In reply to: Akismet Blocking my own commentsI’d just like to add that Akismet successfully blocks hundreds of instances of comment spam on our blogs EVERY WEEK! To that extent, it does a great job.

In reply to: Akismet Blocking my own commentsI’m not sure, but I think they un-blacklisted me. I finally left a couple phone messages with Matt begging for help. It seems that worked, although I never heard back from him directly. At least I can post comments on my own stable of blogs now.
Anyway, if you did take care of it, thanks Matt.

In reply to: Akismet Blocking my own commentsBy the way, I have de spammed my own comments hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. It is even picking up snippets from my posts and tagging them as spam.
I wonder if I am the only one out there having this problem of false positives by Akismet on the own posts.

In reply to: Akismet Blocking my own commentsIt’s really an impossible situation. I can get around the problem on my own blogs obviously, even though it is annoying and frustrating.
But what is devastating is that neither I nor any of my colleagues can comment on any other wordpress blog in the world. I have no problem commenting on other systems, just wordpress.
It’s very frustrating.

In reply to: Akismet Blocking my own commentsI have tried that. Also tried contacting them through the contact form on Automattic.com. Also tried calling.
No luck. They are too busy I guess. If any of you knows them could you please let them know about this issue. Thank you.

In reply to: Linking to WP comments in a comment, breaks URLHaving the same problem.
Could it have something to do with the theme?
I’m using veryplaintext2.0.
Any link to a comment form another post defaults to the relative url of the comment number only, thereby rendering the link dead.
When I manually entered the link in the wysiwyg editor, then resaved the post, the entire post disappeared! There appears to be no way to work around this problem.

In reply to: Linking in commentsAs for your suggestions of several plugins that will do it, so far, after browsing the plugin lists, I have not been able to find one. If anyone else out there can help with this, thanks in advance.
I have been trying for several weeks to get an answer, but the support threads seem to disappear into a black hole after the first 15 minutes and no one sees them.
That’s why I re-framed and reposted the question. Hopefully, it won’t be necessary to do again.

In reply to: Linking in commentsThanks!
Spam can be controlled between Akismet and limiting the number of links per post. These tools have worked well so far.
