The problem turned out to be the result of a plugin that removes old posts. I had used it to get rid of a lot of old garbage and forgot to deactivate it.

I, too, would like to know about a free alternaitve to this plugin. It’s working for 12 of my sites, but not for at least one. And almost all of them are on the same server account.

Do you mean the tab that says, “Preview Fonts”? If so, that doesn’t work for me, in either Firefox or Chrome. If I click on that tab, nothing happens; the preview continues to be displayed. If I click “Selected Fonts,” the content under the preview changes appropriately, but the preview is still covering up much of the page.

I had no problem following the above. I wish people weren’t so in love with videos.

In step 5, the user is only presented with the label “Browser Key.” The “Key for Browser Applications” doesn’t show up until later.

I also received a 404 error when I clicked Settings in the plugins list.

Fortunately, going to Settings / Stop Spammers did get me to the settings.

It may not be relevant, but Contact Form 7 broke after a recent WP update. It seemed to work, but never sent the emails. A fix was not forthcoming for a while, so I switched to Captcha and Contact Form. If CF7 gets fixed, I’ll probably go back to it.

Good news! A ticket to the hosting company fixed the problem. I referred to the replies I had received on here.

I manage too many sites to wait around on this. I surveyed the other contact plugins and didn’t like any of them as well as CF7.

The one I disliked the least and am currently implementing is the BestWebSoft Contact Form and Captcha.

The thing I dislike about all of the replacements is the inability to edit the email output. For some reason, all the developers think it’s a good idea to reprint the header stuff in the body of the email!

The above Captcha is very nice; it’s a simple arithmetic problem. I liked another contact plugin better, but it uses the hideous Google reCaptcha.

Thanks for the suggestion and the link. Regretfully, of the sites I manage, this one is not with a host I recommend. I’ll have to find out how to file a ticket and then hope for the best. I’ll paste that link into the ticket.

Thanks, Mike. That’s getting a bit beyond my abilities. I can probably find the output and just comment out what I don’t want, but then I’d lose those changes with the next update.
