I have tested this on a dev environment.
These steps i tried ; Switching to wp theme seventeen, switch off all plugins, except woocommerce and plugins conditional-shipping-for-woocommerce, checkout-fees-for-woocommerce, woocommerce-advanced-messages, and woo-default-attributes.
No result.
After a WooCommerce database update it seems to work again!

Hi . I discover the same. SKu search only work on numbers. Sku’s like heat2 or floor 67 doesn’t work.

I think the only way is make new backgrounds for it.
Thats the way i did it.
You can find it in the map IMG >> then sidebars.

Replace them by your own (white) backgrond.
