Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content). WP 3.0.1Hi moraelyn,
You can try installing the “Third Party Host Fix” plugin using an FTP program, into the wordpress’ plugins directory, and then activating it using the wordpress dashboard.
Once you got the plugin activated, it should allow you to install other plugins and new themes.
Hi digitalhead,
Looks like your webhost placed putenv into their disable_functions list.
If the plugin works fine still, I’d recommend either:1. Check if your webhost can remove the putenv restriction or
2. Simply disable the plugin when you’re not using it to install themes, other plugins.
Hope this helps.
denverhan, I googled and that error is sent when the server administrator does not let you set variables.
Looks like you will need help from the administrator, or manually upload plugins and themes ugh. Alternatively, try another host?

In reply to: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content). WP 3.0.1Hi Noortja,
This is probably too late but there was a bug in the plugin which had a leading space in the php file which broke RSS feeds. I’ve updated the plugin to address this, so perhaps give it another try (also info for those with similar issues)

Just to clarify, this plugin is meant to fix issues on 5Gigs and Bytehost hosting services.
I’m confused as to what you’re trying to fix on your dedicated server by using this plugin because your dedicated server shouldn’t be having issues with WordPress Auto Updating or Theme auto Installation or Plugin Auto Installations (which is what this plugin addresses)Thanks again for your feedback.

In reply to: [Plugin: Third Party Host Fix] good sh*t@teacher and @genesteinberg thanks for more feedback – I need to know just one thing tho.
Are you using 5gigs.net or byethost.com?

– I’ve installed the “Fast and Secure contact Form” but it’s working perfectly with this fix. Are there any specific functionality which my plugin breaks?
– Which host are you using? perhaps I can replicate it on my end.Just a note here – this ‘fix’ is meant to patch up wordpress’ inability to find the home directory, hence causing the features mentioned in the description to fail when you are doing a WordPress plugin installation or upgrade. If there is *any* conflict with other plugins ,simply keep this plugin deactivated until you need to do a WordPress update or a Theme Installation or a Plugin update ??

@genesteinberg – I’ll test it with Fast and Secure contact Form to see if I can see what is causing the conflict. btw, which host are you using?
