In reply to: Are these comments safe to approve? Thanks, newflesh and [b}badMike. I don’t know what his scam is, either, so I tagged it as spam. I am afraid that I may get some bad action from Google if this guy has actually linked to my site, rather than just snagged my posts, though I’m quite peeved about that, too.

In reply to: looking for a piece of advice re. comment moderationWhen I set up my WordPress blog, I created two pages — one about me, and one about the rules of posting. In that page, which I titled, “Please Read Before You Post”, among other things, I warned about comments not appearing at first due to moderation.
To set up a page, go to the dashboard, click on the tab at the top of the page called “Write”, and there will be a link where you can create a page. Any page that you create will be visible near the header.

In reply to: Incoming links from sites that have no links to my site!Unfortunately, all of the links on my dashboard but one appear to be coming from my own site! There is only one link that is coming from another site. How is it that I have all these links that seem to be coming from my own site? It’s crazy!

In reply to: Deleting ‘Uncategorized’On your dashboard, there is an area called “manage”. within that area, is a link called “catagories”. Go into that area, and you’ll find a list of all of your catagories. Find the one called “Uncatagorized”, and click on “edit”. You’ll see the name field that has “uncatagorized” still in it. Delete that, and replace it with the name you prefer. That’s how I did it.

In reply to: Looks fine in IE, but not in Forefoxhttps://dread1mynproductions.com/rablog/
I am using the Kubrick theme. I tried to make sure that the pics that I was using were fairly thin.

In reply to: Technorati pingingI’ve been having similar problems. When I ping Technorati minutes after making a new post in my blog, it says that I updated it 1 day ago. This has happened several times now.

In reply to: Image file beneath header or in sidebarOk, now I have a problem. Everything looks ok in IE, but in Firefox, the sidebar is at the bottom. The image beneath the header looks fine in both browsers, however.
How do I make things look right in Firefox? Do I go and edit the sidebar.php in Firefox? I’ll go try and see what happens.

In reply to: Image file beneath header or in sidebarThanks–I didn’t forget that php call.
I also managed to get two images in the sidebar. Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it!
As for the code in the stylesheet, how will I know that I got it right?

In reply to: Image file beneath header or in sidebarPreferably on the right side of the page starting near the top, but that may involve creating a new sidebar. Otherwise, I’d like one image near the top, and another near the bottom.
Btw, I finally did get an image to appear, but I want it centered beneath the header. Would I use the <center> tag first, or the align=”center” / after the name of the image file?
PS–I did it using the <center> tag–looks cool!

In reply to: The Wheeling GourmetTo me, your site looks clean and simple with very good contrast. That’s good for me because I am almost totally blind, and must very close to the screen to see anything.

In reply to: Image file beneath header or in sidebarI tried handcoding it but all I got was an x’ed out square for my trouble.
Also, if I wanted to hardcode the link to an image in the sidebar.php file, where on the page would I put the code?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Image file beneath header or in sidebarYes, hardcoding, that’s what I mean.
The original image that I want to use is 595×446 pixels, and when I try to change it to the exact specifications, the photo editing prgram won’t allow this. Someone else tried for me, and he said that the image came out horribly distorted. That’s why I want to see about putting an image just below the header.

In reply to: How can I change this? After a careful search, I was able to find the empty link in the Blogroll. I deleted it. Now the page doesn’t show the empty link.
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: How can I change this? Thanks, moshu, for your help. As for the empty link, that is the proble. I cannot find it in the admin page to delete it. When I go the the links manage area, and look at the links, I don’t see the empty one. I will try to look again, but it was because I could not find it that I wanted to go directly to the actual file and edit it.
As for the term, “gibberish”, I mean that the page is in php script, which looks like gibberish to me. I just tried to open the index.php file in the wp contents/themes/default folder using Notepad, but all I saw was php code.
Again, thanks!
