  • Thanks Tracey ?? I love your writing style, but yeah, I can’t figure it out. It seems as though the contact form I re-enabled is more consistent. My husband tried to comment and it didn’t even get sent to my wordpress for moderation, let alone any notifications. However, the contact form now appears to work (at least for these tests).

I did find out about the authentication thing the hard way too, and now I have all of that up and running. I’m glad you’re not using Outlook anymore and you’re seeing more mail on the information highway!

THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! It worked for one test, and now it’s not working again!!!!! I’m guessing I have to set up a new forum topic, so I will do that if this doesn’t look like it is posting properly.

Thanks @toweller. I don’t use Outlook and I do have my own email address and I authenticated it apparently. I started accessing some things, and I did a test on my comments and it worked, so I celebrated- as I had in the meantime, set up another forum comment. BUT I had my husband try on my website, and now – nope! not getting emails again.

This is driving me absolutely NUTS!!!!! I hope your post has some insight. Thanks for sharing ??

    Hi Tara,

    Thanks for your response.

I just want to make sure we both understand each other. The only reason I found out about the comments section not working (then realizing it was also the reason why the contact form notifications weren’t working) was BECAUSE I bought extensions for a free plugin, which then had me do test emails, which then weren’t working and I realized it wasn’t the plugin, it was my entire hosted wordpress site.

I then contacted my hosting provider and they told me it was a wordpress issue.

I’ve already contacted support two other times elsewhere and have been directed to different forums. If you don’t think I’m in the right place after explaining the situation here, then please do link me to another area.

My issue is with MY ENTIRE site, not the plugin. I have tried 2 plugins (postmaster and wp-mail) with no resolution. I have contacted support from each of those plugins but haven’t heard back yet.

I am really frustrated. This has been going on now for a couple of weeks and I keep being told “it’s not their problem,” but then getting no real followup or direction. Extremely frustrating!!!

Thanks DougRees. I tried setting up the WP-Mail-SMTP again and same as what I got with Postman when I reset-it-up, I can get the test emails, but then when I go to post a comment on my website (through a chrome incognito window), I STILL don’t get the notifications to my actual email address. Frustrating ??

    Thanks for the thought though.

Now I’m wondering if I’m even using the right plugin. I’m just wanting to get notifications from wordpress itself. I’m second-guessing all that I’m doing now haha

Update: I went back and put SMTP.bluehost.com and I did get a test email sent to my email address I put for the test this time. HOWEVER, then I went and added a comment from an incognito window in chrome and I didn’t get a notification!!!!! AHHHH! This is driving me nuts!!!!

    Please help my ignorant soul!

Help Please!!!! I’m having the same issue and also have Bluehost but was also told the same thing after they checked whatever they needed to. This is a HUGE problem and I keep getting the run around. I have tried Postman and Wp-mail with no correction of the issue.

I had to take my contact form and comments sections off because I keep missing prospective client’s contacts due to no notifications. Please help!!!!

Yes! I forgot that I didn’t deactivate the comments section. I went to do that then got stuck down a rabbit hole (as a self-taught web designer, it’s easy for me to do).

Thanks for the reminder. I do have my email and info listed, but I guess people like making comments more? I don’t know, it’s weird, but yes, concerning.

I do recall getting emails but I can’t remember how long ago that was. I should’ve known something was up, but I was busy with referrals via email directly that I didn’t think of checking the website issue.

Please help me with this as well! So very frustrating. I removed my contact form months ago due to this problem, now I’m getting potential clients through comments, but their comments aren’t forwarding to my email either!!!! I have lost potential clients because of this (ie. I get back to them over a month later).

I deactivated plugins for spam blocking (that helped one person), I contacted my hosting company (nothing was wrong), I changed my email (ironically, got an email from wordpress with my email change- but somehow won’t forward emails via comments).

I just installed a plugin for a members only site and I NEED the email to work for this- this is how I found out the comments haven’t been working either- when I went to set all this up.

VERY frustrating! I’m working with the Sela theme- which I love and my website is riverockhealth.com.

    Please help us!!!
