In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] Why clear the cache?Donncha:
I even called corporate for my server to help me figure this out, and a tech guy is trying SC on his own blog now. Here is what I see inside the bowels of my infernally slow File Mgr on my server: I can see wp-content/cache/my cached posts fine. If I click on them, the page is ok, and adsense ads are ok.
However here is where Super Cache goes: my_blog/wp-content/cache/supercache/mywebsite.com/myblog/2008/04/13/name-of-my-post/index.html, and when I click on that I can see the post when I drill down – and I do mean drill-, but the adsense ads come up another language. Is this where super Cache is supposed to go?
All permissions are correct. Compression is disabled. Can you please help me, because I really want this to work!
Thanks!

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] Why clear the cache? You are right, donncha.
After more searching, this is an unusual problem. I’m using MistyLook, which I think is kind of a frame. I’m hoping that isn’t the problem.
I see that all my older posts, like a month ago, all show adsense fine. Just the newer ones that Super Cache saved, have bad Adsense, and are other languages and PSAs.
Also, when I look in my htaccess file, everything looks like your Mod Rewrite Rules.
But in wp-content/uploads, I noticed advanced-cache.php and wp-cache-config.php have permissions of 644, so I changed to 755. Could that have been the problem? Adsense takes at least a day or two to readjust itself, so I won’t know if that was it, or turn Super Cache back on until you have a chance to look at this. I’m also waiting for my server to call back, to check on the compression thing.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] Why clear the cache?I haven’t yet, donncha, but I’m reading them.
I finally installed Super Cache on my big blog last night, and all the Google Adsense ads today are PSAs or are in another language. I guess Adsense can’t read html, good for them.
I don’t see this problem listed, but have you come across this before, or have a solution?
Thanks again.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Super Cache] Why clear the cache?Thank you, Donncha!
So to make the cache, I should look at all my own pages, is that right? And then the readers can see my cache, I believe.
I will have a small blog to start with – is once a week about right for me to clear and then re-cache my pages?
Forgot to ask another important question: will this also cache my own admin pages? On my first blog, 2.2, the admin pages are SO slow. I am just starting this new blog on 2.5, so hope it will be faster.
Thanks again for your prompt response.

In reply to: Are there themes for dashboard of 2.5?Go under Users/Your Profile, and you can change to another color scheme, which I prefer.
Since this wasn’t in Codex when I needed it, hope this will help someone.

In reply to: Do I need separate domain name for blog?Thank you, Gangleri. As you can see, it took me a week to get up nerve to do this.
Actually, the first article is outdated, and not necessary for what I needed. To help someone else, here’s how I did it:
Ignore Codex. In 2.5 there is no options tab. In admin, go to General/Settings, and change WordPress address and blog address to your new name. I already had website.com/WordPress and I wanted to change it to website.com/Great_Blog, so I changed both addresses.
I also checked to make sure I had my login name and password right in front of me! THEN I hit save for the settings.
Your admin page will disappear.
AFTER you have changed your address in admin, then you go to your server and change the name of your WordPress folder to Great_Blog. Then just type in new url, log in, and it’s all fine! Very simple, but important to do it in that order.

In reply to: No cache or archive in search engineI’ve now been searching for an answer for 10 hours, I see.
The search function on WordPress is still not working, so I’m limited to google.
Google keeps all my posts. However, they will not display under the cached button. I think this may be because there is a frame in my theme, Mistylook, that I never knew about. Apparently Google can’t see through the theme, and then only shows the header.
Great. I wish I had found this out before now!!! Google says I can add a Noframes tag, but I don’t know to which theme file. It also said you can change the address or target to be sure that Google knows which archived page to go to, instead of going to the frame. (if I have a frame.)
Can someone PLEASE help? I spent 5 weeks tweaking this theme, and don’t want to lose it, but I can’t use a theme that won’t cache.

In reply to: Do I need separate domain name for blog?I have a similar question.
My website is mywebsite.com, and my first blog is mywebsite.com/goodblog/
I would like to call my second blog mywebsite.com/greatblog/, but right now it is mywebsite.com/WordPress/.To change the name from WordPress to greatblog, can anyone please tell me how, or where to look on Codex? I read the first link above and didn’t see this mentioned, and the second link is a blank page.
I can see the WordPress folder under public html, but can’t see how to change the name of it. Also, do I have to start another Mysql database for this?
Thanks so much.

In reply to: method not implemented (@ category delete)Does anyone know why this comes up in the new 2.5.1 every time I write a post? It never did before my “upgrade.”
Thank you.

In reply to: Are there themes for dashboard of 2.5?These look good, thanks a lot, Jon-A5! I couldn’t find any under the word dashboard…
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: method not implemented (@ category delete)I disagree. Searching turns up a lot of other questions about this, and no real answer.
I waited a month to upgrade to 2.5.1, and now I get this message right off the bat when I try to save a new post.
I read that turning off the security for admin through htaccess is dangerous. Since I imagine I’m not the only person getting this message, please help. I don’t have ANY plugins. I’m just beginning my new second blog.
Thanks for a solution.

In reply to: Slow Site?Sorry, farewell, that no one answered you. That’s the case way too often here…
Same problem here on SLOW. Is there a way to see if it’s my server, or if it’s WordPress itself? Since it’s on my server, does that mean it’s always the server? Admin pages can take up to 25 seconds!!! Always at least 15 seconds. Have the next to fastest dsl, tons of memory, etc.

In reply to: ImageManager Gone As Well as WordPress ThumbnailsI didn’t upgrade (!), still on 2.2, and today the thumbnail choice in images is not showing. Thumbnails are handy.
I can’t remember if I did have Image Manager, but it’s not there now.
What is going on?

In reply to: Backup Codex on database is not completeHandySolo and SimonJ,
Thanks both very much. You’re right, structure box alone wasn’t enough, but I didn’t want to lose my style page, either! My server said I could save both separately, too.I’m not ready to change my wp-config yet, Simon, but I’ve bookmarked this when I have the courage to do it…
Thanks again.
