I just added the embed code to the custom html widget and at least for now it is displaying at the specified size. I feel like 4.9 along with many plugin updates at once have created poltergeists in my site! all is good one minute and leave it for awhile and something else is wonky.

Did you get this resolved? I tried the video widget and that didn’t work, go figure.
But I did try (again) the custom html and that worked this time.

This isn’t a plugin issue, although yes I have tried that on a couple of sites.
I use the xml as a backup along with the database sql down load.

I did try just doing incremental xml export files, and that worked on a couple of sites, so I will do it that way for now. It’s a pita as they are all called the same thing. And there is no reason that the whole file shouldn’t download, these are tiny sites.

Mika’s plugin looks great, if you are a dream host client.

My hosts take many back ups, but I always like to have my own copies just in case.
Guess I will have to either do full backups through CPanel, or install yet again another plugin.

So even if a plugin changes ownership, it is not reviewed by the plugin team?
Ok, I understand .. but that doesn’t really answer my main question..which is what other plugins did this guy buy and what others are at risk?
I have been around these forums for 10 years.. can’t say I have ever run into this type of issue before. Sorry about the language.. frustration abounds.
I understand the all volunteer thing and I really respect the folks like yourself who have been a guiding light and solid info messenger all this time.

Wow another one! First I lose Display Widgets and now this one too! HTH. Not happy.

I am very confused, but see there are problems with display widget.
The WP dashboard says to update, and yet the update says it updated, but then reverts back to ‘need to update’. Now I read that I am better off using dw ver 2.05, which I am fine with staying with as it wasn’t broken… and I run a couple huge sites using this widget extensively.
So how do I know exactly what version I have installed? WP says it is 2.05 do I trust I am not infecting my sites the new update?

This is still happening, both FF and Chrome, both running current versions. I skipped some xml downloads with the incremental WP updates, but with this biggie 4.8, I need to be able to get that file.
If I can’t download it .. is there somewhere on the server I can go get it and download??

After trying on both FF and Chrome repeatedly over the last week, today Chrome worked. No clue as to why this happened, but hope it has resolved itself. I just hate doing WP updates.

Thanks, I believe we have found the culprit in the newly updated mailscanner app in CPanel. That bit had been defaulted on instead of off.. we will see if that fixes things. Thank you.
