Thanks so much for this, frock! (Unfortunately, the word I used, “archive,” was ill-chosen. I do keep trickling new blog posts on a very sporadic basis, and subscribers keep opting in to my list via the free gift on the site. And, it’s not small.)

More control? I don’t think so: the “Read the rest of this entry” module is now required to be its own paragraph, rather than popping in at whatever point in the line where the author feels it would be most enticing, and was formerly (as pointed out by prior posters) easily placed.

I just spent a freaking half-hour trying to get the thing where I wanted (inc. trying to outsmart the blockhead format by inserting an html more tag into the paragraph block, didn’t work)…and ultimately gave up. MY OPINION TO WHICH I’M SO GRACIOUSLY WELCOMED AS PER SAMUEL WOOD IS THAT THIS NEW VERSION SUCKS!

For those of us who are NOT professional web developers…just professionals wanting to get our info out into the world…will you please (frock or anyone else) give me the Fix-it-for-Dummies instructions on how to extricate myself from the hell of blocks? (I realize it’s a plugin, but please point me as if I’m a 3rd-grader.)

I found this thread by searching for the can’t-scroll-down-long-paragraph-blocks issue. Frankly, I feel like (and have for pretty much most the time I’ve had my site, over 7 years), who do I have to **** to get OUT of WordPress?! A couple years ago I was on the brink of decamping and moving to Squarespace, but it was just going to be more $$ than I could justify (and my business simply isn’t image-centric enough), now that I’m mostly retired from that career and on to another, which is an IRL, offline situation.

So if any of y’all feel like you have advice that can help me in that regard (the fact that I still have a trickle of subscribers wanting my information, and I want to keep my site if only for archive purposes…but I’m completely upside-down in terms of the cost of maintaining it, not to mention the PITA that is the topic of this thread), I’d certainly welcome it. TIA!

Matthew, I just added a couple slides to my slider and the “Open in new window” was not there still. Do I need to download something, an updated version of the plug-in or anything? You didn’t alert me, if so.

Say, while I have your ear… any chance you can include a “Copy slide” function? That would be great for slides that have more text or are featured, that we want to stay up for double the length of time.
    Thanks…!

Thanks for the quick response, Matthew, and believe me I DO understand needing to make business endeavors sustainable!

To update to the new version (w/ “Open in new window” back) that you’re releasing over the weekend, will there be a simple update process to follow that I can do myself? (In other words, not pay a VA to do, which is what I had to do when Easing Slider disappeared w/ my WP update?)

I’d like to understand better what having multiple sliders even means! You mean different sliders on different pages of a site, etc…? Maybe if I understood it, I’d appreciate it more, lol!

Thank you for your explanation and for fixing it w/ the new update. I’m actually relieved to find out that it was nothing more than an oversight. I think users forget that there are actual humans behind these various tech programs they use and get frustrated by, so it’s good to be reminded of that.

At 21 it seems to me you’re well on your way to entrepreneurial success!!

PS: Will there be an alert sent when the update is released?
