Well, uploaded the spacemonkey files but I get the error
We’re having a little trouble selecting the proper database for WordPress.
Are you sure it exists?
Your database name is currently specified as wordpress. Is this correct?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
when I point to install.php. The database is there and so is the user. wp-config is edited and everything… If I don’t figure out this soon. I am going to ditch wordpress… it’s given me nothing but heartache ever since I downloaded it 5 days ago.

What does all of this mean? I cannot execute install.php. It says can’t find database when it is there. What do I do?

Don’t point your browser to that file. Point it to localhost/wp-admin/install.php. If the wp-config.php fiel needs to be altered then do so in an editor.

I have wordpress on my server. i am running clarkconnect not using lycos. Although I am getting the same error you got.

I got the same error, what did you do to fix it? I am using webmin with everything that should be installed. I get the same error you got.

When you get it un tarred there will be a readme.html file in the directory. Open it up and follow it to the “T”. I am having problems installing so I will not be able to help you further but I will tell you this… make sure you apt-get mysql, mysql-server, php, and php-mysql. Oh yeah… I use webmin but from reading the forums some people like cpanel. I prefer webmin… it’s easy and you can apt-get it. Happy installing.
