I also a smililar problem, after upgrading it to 3.8. The images are not seen in media library or when you insert in the post.

It worked.

My both databases have same sql server.
I don’t know password the of the mysql route user. Hosting company also not able to give it or reset it as it is root.
it is automatically created as abcd@local host. I have created a new user with all priviliges to both databases, yet it shows access denied. Any way out.

I removed the frontpage posting box and it removed the sidebar also.
I want to add catergories as menu.

I didn’t do that.
What I did was to remove the top spot where you enter the posts below the header.
