SOLVED (somehow!) in this manner:
I followed the steps in your tutorial here: https://xnau.com/setting-up-custom-access-roles-in-participants-database/
When I installed the custom plugin created by tweaking your sample, thus adding a filter to change the plugin’s defined user capabilities from standard to custom…
…I then saw that the custom user role mysteriously started showing in the dropdown!
I don’t know why previous refreshes of the page did not show it, but it shows now.
I’m good. Thanks again.
Note: I have verified that the new custom role does have the “edit_others_posts” capability check marked (switched on).

Please note that the first link you sent … that page has within it, a broken link to the second! Unless you already fixed it.

In reply to: [Participants Database] Shortcode parameters examples? The 2nd link leads to a “page not found” (404) type error.

I think maybe there are two issues, not just one. It may be that the plugin is presuming there is going to be an image, which is not always the case, and this seems to be an even more important issue than the presumed caching. In our case, the feed is audio entries and there are no images in the entries.
Re: Can you provide your podcast feed URL?
I think the feed URL is https://churchapp.me/pccmobile/feed/podcast/
One of my earlier replies had already included a link to where the feed is being displayed — The site showing the “broken image link” issue is here: https://pentecostalcc.org/sermons/
I’m not sure why the feed URL would matter. There are no images in the podcast entry items as it is an audio (sermons) podcast.

In reply to: [Broadcast] Broadcasting Blog – Featured Image Not showingI guess so. I just went back to a previous post, check marked custom fields, and updated, and the featured image showed on the broadcasted post.
I wonder if this is a change from how the plugin used to work? I don’t remember ever noticing this before.

In reply to: [Broadcast] Broadcasting Blog – Featured Image Not showingDoes a post’s featured image not get broadcasted unless custom fields is checked?
I’ve also been seeing broadcasted posts not get their featured image.

In reply to: [Broadcast] Broadcast interface on posts is wacky. See imageYep, you were right it seems. As soon as I switched away from the current theme, the styling behavior of the Broadcast plugin on the post editing page changed back to normal looking.
It’s a premium theme, and although my paid support period is expired, I went ahead and submitted a ticket just to let them know.
Marking this as solved — even though the theme issue is not solved, it’s not a support question here on this plugin. Thanks again.

In reply to: Unable to upload imagesGood advice. However, when I encountered the issue, there was nothing showing in the error logs, if memory serves. I was checking both PHP and WP error logs at the time.
