In reply to: [Hueman] Child theme problemsSo, Mike, they have great support but it’s rude of me to ask for it? How does that work?
The sample download from Alex’s site site is the one I’m using.
I repeat, I have previously installed child themes for SIX other themes on other sites without any problems – but I have double-checked the tutorial and can’t find any mistakes.

In reply to: [Hueman] Child theme problemsI’m not using Cloudflare or any other CDN.
The thing is, if I install a Custom CSS plugin and put my changes in that, it works instantly.

In reply to: Child Theme vs. Custom CSSAaron, I have to disagree with you. I’ve had themes which have broken when a new version of WordPress was released, for instance. Also if new functionality is included in WordPress, you want your theme to be updated to take advantage of that.
A developer who designs a theme and then walks away isn’t doing his job, IMO.

In reply to: [Hueman] Child theme problemsActually David, I have previously installed child themes on half a dozen other WordPress sites and they are all working fine. I’ve compared the Hueman child theme (supplied by Hueman) with the child themes on my other sites, and it appears to be set up just the same.
What is even stranger is that the other files in the child theme – functions.php and the sidebars – are functioning perfectly, it’s just that any code I paste into style.css is ignored.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Problems because calendar "is not a page"Leah, it would help a great deal if you offered some suggestions for compatible themes on your website.
You say “some themes” don’t recognise the virtual page. I’d go so far as to say, most themes don’t recognise the virtual page. I did a huge search through the repository trying to find a theme that worked with the Calendar and had the look and feel I wanted, and I found very few that recognised it at all.

In reply to: [Hueman] Child theme problemsThis is still an issue.
I have created a child theme. It’s installed successfully, but no matter what custom CSS I paste into the stylesheet, it’s ignored, completely.
I have included sidebar and sidebar-2 in the child them because I wanted to make changes to them, and they are working perfectly.

In reply to: [Highwind] Correct header size?Esmi, both those people are saying they have exactly the same issue, I’d have thought it made sense to add it to the same thread, to reinforce it’s not just one person having the problem – which suggests it’s a bug not us being dumb. Are you saying that even if twenty people have the same problem, they must all start a new thread?

In reply to: [Hueman] Child theme problemsOops, no I haven’t got around it.
I can’t find the code to:
– Change the background colour of the nav bar (under the header) and the widgetized footer
– Make the heading larger in the sidebarForum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: [Highwind] Correct header size?Edit: I’ve just tried using a smaller header. What happens is that the image gets enlarged, so it’s still bigger than the container and you can’t see the design.

(there should be a lot more flowers visible to both left and right, and top and bottom).
I’m having exactly the same experience, only worse! Not only does Smushit cause the site to hang, it doesn’t work – I get “bad response from Smushit” on every image.
I use Smushit on SIX other WordPress sites no trouble at all, and have for years. This site is the only one using WooCommerce and the only one that has a problem.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Problems because calendar "is not a page"Leah, this isn’t a conflict. The OP is saying that the calendar page is not a WordPress page – and it’s not. Go and look at the Pages on any theme with this plugin installed, and you won’t see a “Calendar” page.
That’s why a link is provided on the Settings page because people so often can’t find it.
Because it’s not a WordPress page, the OP can’t treat it like one. I’ve had that problem too and it’s not a theme issue, it’s due to the fact that the calendar page is not a page.
This plugin offers to do exactly what I need, and my “upsells” are displaying nicely now, thank you. However I’m having the same problem – I have unticked related products, but they’re still showing.
