After much searching I have found the perfect plugin that others experiencing this issue may find useful. So far it appears to be working a treat: WP Hide Post

It allows you to exclude posts from the front page, category page, author page etc. etc.

OK, so I seem to have worked out how to post them to the Review page by going to menus and adding the category ‘Review’ to the menu bar.

What I need to know now, is how to exclude them from posting to the general posting page if anyone can give me some simple guidance?

    Thank you.

Just realised my version of wordpress is 3.7.1 not 3.6.1

    ??

Optimising tables in phpmyadmin has not worked for me.

Neither has changing my permissions in wp-content to 777.

I’m running on Chrome and really don’t want to switch – I love Chrome.

Running out of steam – this is so frustrating. I will keep an eye on this thread in the hope someone finds something that works soon.

I thought Twenty Eleven was the default theme (I couldn’t find a Twenty Fourteen theme in the directory) – I have tried that and deactivated ALL plugins but I still cannot transfer any media from the media library to my posts.

I have also tried uploading media from the URL and that will not work either.

I’m not sure it’s a wordpress issue as it’s happening on two different wordpress sites. I think there’s something on my computer preventing me from attaching media to my wordpress – I’ve just no idea what! It’s driving me mad!

I had installed free Avast internet/virus protection. I have uninstalled that now but still no difference.

I had also updated Adobe but other than that there is no change to anything – I’m confused.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

I think I upgraded Adobe Flash Player the day before yesterday – this started to happen yesterday….could this be the problem?

No joy, I’m afraid and unfortunately, it’s not just images, it’s all media. Images will upload to the media library but not into the editor.

I’ve just tried to embed a You Tube video with no luck.

I’ve no idea what to try next. ??

    Hi Kmessinger, thanks for reply.

I don’t have the capacity to do that on the other site I write for. It seems strange that it’s happening on two different wordpress’ with different themes, different plugins and different versions of WP.

Is doing that likely to make a difference given it’s more than my own website?

Thank you lettergrade for the link you attached – nice and clear. I’m just not sure if my site is run on Apache but I guess my host will confirm.

I think you may have sorted my issue for me so many thanks.

Thank you lettergrade – TSOHost said all I needed to do was to park the new domain name and then go into wordpress general settings and change the home address and site URL, but the more I’ve read into it the more I’ve got myself confused with it all!

Evan Herman, I had intended to try and set up a 301 redirect to the new domain from the old domain – don’t know how to do that and TSOHost said if I did the above, www.remarpro.com would sort the redirect for me?

Yes, I think so, other than I had already added a line of content to the second page. I’m want the front page to be the home page, there’s then an ‘about’ page, ‘contact me’ page etc. I then want another page further along the menu ‘A Room With My Views – blog home’ to act a home page for the blog area I guess, with the posts to be added to the sub-page I have created here ‘A Room with My Views’. I’m not sure if I’ve added this correctly or not. In ‘settings / reading’, I have the static front page set to ‘Home of Donna Navarro, Freelance Writer’ and the posts page set to the sub page I created ‘A Room With My Views’. I have tried amending the posts page to the parent page but this just moved the ‘nothing found’ error message to the parent page.

Apologies if I am complicating things but this is all very new to me!

Further, I have just noticed that if I go into settings / reading and change my posts page, whichever page I change it to is them marked as the page with the error, ‘nothing found’, and the original one I had problems with then appears with the content I had prepared.

    Any ideas anyone? I’m stumped!

The blog home page is marked as a static page as I want to use this as ‘welcome page’ to the blog. But if you hover over this tab in the menu, it displays the sub page, which I am wanting to use for actual posts. If you go to this page, it is here the error is showing.

By the way, in case this helps, the permalink visible at the top of the view editor for the page is reading as https://lexiconlane.co.uk/?page_id=124
