Thanks, I think you may be right. A colleague contacted the web host and they “reset the site and increased the quota”. Not sure what that means exactly, but WordPress just upgraded to 4.9 without a hassle. It’s shared hosting so the ‘quota’ may be disc space.

I’m on WordPress 4.7.7. Not sure about the PHP, but it’s a recently updated theme.

I’ve tried to upgrade to WordPress 4.8 since posting here and that won’t upgrade. Got this message:

Yes, luckily I was able to log back in which is how I was able to test what combination of plugins was causing the problem.

I’m a dunce. Found the setting, problem resolved. This plugin rocks!!

Ahh, okay, that makes sense. Two of us were overwriting each others info from different computers but it was because we were both logged into the website under the same admin… duh!

I can find lots of references to ‘comments-link’ in the stylesheet and comments php files. Do I go into that code and delete anything to do with comments or will that risk upsetting other things?

Thanks esmi. They are linked to the home page which I obviously can’t delete. Are there links that I can delete??
