To anyone else also having seemingly random server errors AND are hosted with GoDaddy, it appears this issue is unique with GoDaddy hosting.

After some additional searching I found a post with the same issue:

The “fix” is to add the following to the .htaccess file at the beginning:

# BEGIN Line too long fix
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
# END Line too long fix

After adding this to the .htaccess file the admin pages previously having errors are now loading again.

Hi, we upgraded our hosting cPanel on GoDaddy to their Maximum plan in hopes that may fix it, but we are still having the same dashboard pages not loading. Thanks for the reply.

Correct, NextGEN works great with the default settings but if I replace wordpress#thickbox with a URL to a modified thickbox.js file in my theme folder, I get an error. The CDATA with the var = thickboxL10n... data that the nextgen_thickbox_init.js usually outputs does not get outputted.

I tested whether if it had anything to do with the modified thickbox.js by putting in the full URL to the wp-include WordPress thickbox.js and I get the same error. It looks like using anything other than the default wordpress#thickbox for the javascript URL setting causes the nextgen_thickbox_init.js not to output the CDATA with the var = thickboxL10n ... data.

The modified thickbox.js file retains all the same variables as the original with changes only to the HTML structure it generates for the lightbox.

Try adding a ‘/’ at the end of your DP directory setting. This was suggested by linkrb in this thread and it appears to work.

I found the problem that was causing the_blocks not to register while working on another project. I had two templates that both used the_block but in different order in the PHP processing.

The blocks registered on the template that had the_block after the loop. But in the other template that had the_block before the loop did not register. So I moved things around to include the_block inside and/or after the loop and it started registering. Went back to the original project this occurred on, did the same thing and it now works.

Trendwerk, perhaps you can double check this? See if this is a requirement now in v3.0.1? I recall it working regardless of placement before it updated.

I apologize for the late reply. I tried commenting out line 69 in assets/inc/functions.template-tags.php but it still does not work.

Unfortunately this is on a client’s server with their site live. And as much as I want to, I cannot setup a development site for you to debug the problem. But thanks for attempting a fix. It’ll just be harder to make edits having multiple column blocks on one editor.

Sorry that was a typo, I used the_block('Block name'); with ‘first’, ‘second’ and ‘third’ as the block name.

Is there a way to “force” registration for the blocks? I only need this on one page template.

Thanks for your help, this is a great plugin and the first time having problems.

Don’t know how you have it set up for the top level buttons but if you have it them selected as “Headers” (non-clickable items) then you can give it href=”#” attributes so that it will work on touch screens.

I successfully altered the code to allow the social media buttons to be added on the home page.
You will need to change the load code in the easy-social-media.php file.
Search for
if(is_single() && !is_admin())
and change to the following
if(is_single() || is_home() && !is_admin()) {
This will add the buttons after each post on the home page.

NVM, it’s not working. I forgot I added in a filter to only search regular post and pages.

function SearchFilter($query) {
if ($query->is_search) {
$query->set('post_type', array( 'post', 'page'));
}
return $query;
}

add_filter('pre_get_posts','SearchFilter');

Still need help in getting this to work normally without the filter function…

… that’s frustrating. It’s working now all of a sudden…
No changes made, just left for lunch and came back to try it again…
