Trackback Validator is a trackback spam blocker plugin – any trackback comment that contains a URL link is automatically moderated. I don’t use any other spam blockers because for regular comments I require registration.

Got all the validator stuff cleanup, I’m not clear on which Padding attributes you think I should change to 0px – there are a whole lot of them, and they format a variety of different parts of the page, the columns, the header, the toolbar, blockquotes, etc.

Still scrolls jerkily for me, not sure if it’s still crashing for other folks.

Tried just taking out the background images, still has the same problem, so that wasn’t it.

Corrected as much as I could – a few things I’m not sure how I’d approach correcting. Wasn’t sure which set of padding instructions to change, there are several in the style sheet for the different columns, the toolbar, etc.

I’m wondering if maybe the image thing is it… I’ll play with it tomorrow.

I like it as well. My only thought, which won’t be an issue for some months, is to move the Meta section in the left column up – I found that as my archive list of months grew, it disappeared off the screen – and it’s amazing how many folk started e-mailing me and asking “How do I register? I don’t see it on your site…”

Nolageek, you can turn the rich text editor off. It’s under Options, Writing, and just uncheck the box that says “use rich text editor as default”. I did, I have to admit I really disliked it as well, far easier to use the old style editor for me. And the HTML editor didn’t work at all – it just pops up blank windows.

Actually, found a work around already… using “title” instead of “tooltip” works fine. maybe tooltip is browser specific?

Well let’s see… maybe because I’ve never used this software before and I was following the instructions… but, nonetheless, following ideas that popped up in other threads… I cleared both cache & cookies and was able to get to the site. Now just have to figure everything else out about this… ??

Actually, I’m looking at it – maybe the fact that when I go to the install.php file it says it’s already installed isn’t a good thing… it says:

    Already Installed

You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

Before I go clearing something I shouldn’t… what should I actually do to do this (I do have access on bluehost to both mysql and phpadmin)

I’ll second being a 1000% newbie at this. I used the WordPress one-click install (well, three clicks or so) on bluehost. It installed. If I try to run the install.php it says that WordPress is already installed (I think that’s good). Now, if I’m reading the documentation right, to go to my administration panel, I’d go to the wp-admin folder… in this case… https://www.saltshaker.net/wp-admin

However, when I do that, I get the following message: Not Found

The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.

Now, if I go into my FTP… all the wordpress files are inside a folder called public_html. The wp-login.php file is there too, but isn’t inside the sub-folder wp-admin. How do I get whatever I need to get to point to the login to point to it… (I tried going to both https://www.saltshaker.net/wp-login.php and https://www.saltshaker.net/public_html/wp-login.php as well, and just got a “Not Found” error)

Any thoughts on what I need to do to set this up? Am I better off uninstalling the one-click version and just installing from the downloadable software?

I’m also getting the exact same message. I contacted my customer support (hosting is on myhosting.com) and someone is trying to figure out why it isn’t working for me. If I get an answer that works, I’ll post it, maybe it’ll be applicable to another host as well…

I’m very new to this… I tried the infophp suggestion above – I’m assuming that I just save it as a php file (i went with test.php). When I try to run it, it just opens in my web browser (firefox).
