Ok, I’ve gone through both sites that are having issues with the Add Media button and deactived the plugins that those two sites have in common but are NOT used on the other sites.

Add Media button is not working.

It’s not the theme, because we use this theme on 4 other sites with the same settings and frontier is working fine on them.

I don’t know what else to do.

Just to verify, the plugin is indeed active on all sites (there are several sites that it isn’t working on) and no new plugins added recently.

Ok – it does work if we place the iframe code in but we have hundreds of posts (maybe more) that have the short code in it

It will be a huge pain to have to replace all the short codes with iframe codes and teach all of our users (many thousands) to use the iframe code instead.

It would be really nice if the plugin could work as intended.

They are separate installations but the same hosting provider.

We just started a new one so I will test it on that. Put all the plugins on that are on the others I guess? Currently it is workign on the new one.

I thought that it was resolved but recent reports from our user have indicated that it is not. We are running it on all our sites but have issues on only two sites.

Our themes, plugins, and wordpress are all updated.

I have tried deactivating and activating plugins in the past but I can’t find one that is causing problems. It’s very strange since it works on 4/6 sites that are all pretty much identical.

We looked at a couple plugins and deactivated and it didn’t seem to make much of a difference.

Interestingly, they can click on the featured image link and it comes up. Just not the Add Media button.

It is happening for administrators, too.

And yes, they are nearly identical. Kind of like sister sites – just different purposes.

Let me ask my business partner if there are any scripts running on the one site that are not on the other.

There is one person on Honest Reviewz that seems to have issues with the WordPress editor in the backend but it seems to be unrelated as others can manage everything fine – that’s on honestreviewz.com. On Listofied.com – the other site where the add media button is not working – people are able to add media and use the WordPress editor fine.

Finnj – you have been so awesome and patient!

We were using Role Manager plugin, which is old and hasn’t been updated in ages so I switched to User Role Manager, fixed the advanced settings, and that did the trick.

And in case anyone has the same problem, our original problem was not a specific plugin at all but rather all of them. I had to deactivate them all again.

So, now our five multi-user sites have a front end publisher for those who are terrified of using WordPress.

Ok – just to double check – the code that we have to insert goes in the functions.php file of the THEME we are using right?
