In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Cookies Disqus WarningsHi there,
These should be warnings related to the planned deprecation of 3rd party cookies, which Disqus currently uses to operate. Please know that Disqus is prepared to function in a cookieless environment when those changes roll out, though this may not require an update to the plugin itself.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] How to import WordPress comments automaticallyIt’s not currently possible to automate Import tasks.
We expect that an import should only need to be done once at the time of installation, as the Disqus plugin will replace the WordPress native comments form, so no new WordPress comments should be coming in when the Disqus plugin is installed.
If your use case differs from the above, please provide us with additional details so that we can take them into consideration in future development. Thanks! I’ve gone ahead and submitted a ticket there.
Hi Treebeard,
We released an update to the plugin 4 weeks ago, so it is now up to date. We tested syncing in this process, and it was working in our tests.
I’ll pass along your feedback about the 12 month syncing limit.
If you need to download the last 5 years of comments from Disqus, you can do a full export of your comments from SHORTNAME.disqus.com/admin/discussions/export/
(replacing SHORTNAME with your site’s shortname that you’re looking to export, additional information on finding your shortname can be found here: https://help.disqus.com/en/articles/1717111-what-s-a-shortname )Hi there,
We’ve just released an update 4 weeks ago, so the plugin is now up to date ??Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Disqus will show on Pages but not PostsHm. By default, the Disqus plugin should have comments appear on Posts (where the WP native comments are enabled), and would not appear on Pages until the php comments template line has been added to those pages.
Have you tried removing the php comments template line from the Posts? I’m wondering if this is somehow overriding Disqus’ ability to replace the WP native comments form based on the structure of Posts. That line should be required for Pages, but should not be required for Posts.
Did you install Disqus manually in addition to the plugin? If Disqus has only been installed by plugin, we wouldn’t expect it to appear once the plugin is deactivated. However, if it’s been installed manually (https://help.disqus.com/en/articles/1717115-manually-install-disqus-on-wordpress), the Disqus code may need to be removed from the site for it to no longer appear.
If you’re comfortable linking your site here, we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Disqus on Russian sitesSorry for the delay. I’ve gone ahead and removed the social share icons from those 3 sites. We don’t currently have a way of de-coupling or removing the social login methods, but I’ve documented the issue to see if we can come up with an option down the line.

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Disqus on Russian sitesIf you provide your site shortname, we can do ahead and disabled the social sharing icons for your site. However, at this time we do not have a way of removing just the Facebook login option, or the logo for that login option. We are still looking into possible solutions we may be able to provide here.

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] Auto-sync problems?Hi,
Thanks for reporting this. Please try these troubleshooting steps to see if they will provide a path for resolving the issue. If they do not, please let us know.
1. Check the webhook link here: https://YOURSITE.com/wp-json/disqus/v1/sync/webhook
This page will either return json text if working or will 404 and not load. If that link is not returning anything or not loading, something is blocking outside sources like Disqus from making requests to your site. This could be due to your REST API configuration, or a plugin that is blocking access to the REST API from other 3rd parties.
2. In version 4.7 of the WordPress platform, REST API is enabled by default. If you are unsure if it is enabled on your WordPress version, you may check that REST API is enabled here: https://YOURSITE.com/wp-json/
If this page loads with json text, REST API is generally enabled for your site, even if it is blocked for Disqus. If the REST API is blocked for Disqus or your entire site, you’ll want to follow instructions here to enable REST API and troubleshoot why it may not be enabled:
https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/248879/is-the-wordpress-rest-api-installed-and-enabled-in-a-vanilla-wordpress-4-7-instaMore general information on the REST API may be found here: https://v2.wp-api.org/
Once you’ve configured your REST API to be enabled for Disqus, try step number 1 again. If the page loads with text, you should be able to click the Syncing option within the Disqus plugin to properly sync your comments.
3. This may also be caused by a conflict with ones of your current plugins, which may be blocking REST API in some capacity. You can test this by temporarily disabling all plugins except Disqus. (These are not permanent recommendations; they are simply to help isolate the issue.) Once all themes (or the suspected themes) have been disabled, try step number 1 again. If the page loads with text, you should be able to click the Syncing option within the Disqus plugin to properly sync your comments.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] New “Attach an image to this comment” buttonHi there,
There is an upload image button in the Disqus embed, allowing users to upload an image of their choice. Can you specify how the button you are requesting would differ from the existing option?

In reply to: [Disqus Comment System] translation doesn’t workHi Marc,
This is a bug that recently cropped up across the Disqus network, and is not specific to the Disqus plugin. We’re aware of the issue, and are currently working towards a fix.
