Frumph thank you so much, I’m sure this will help a lot. Unfortunately, I can’t use the Author Description as the introductory text, since a) the introductory text needs rich formatting, b) Author description is already used on some other places. I’m not sure how to solve this problem then, because the current Author Page content does not show when I use the author.php template. By the way, yes, your advice to only use author.php is valid. Thank you.

I’m not sure, but couldn’t think of any other way to achieve what I want. There are several Custom Post Types on my website. All the content is being created by several authors. Hence, every author has content of multiple custom types. On the other side, I need to have an Author Page for each author, where I would have a static introductory text (needs to be editable from the Dashboard), and archives of only some post types, while some others shouldn’t be displayed. Now, I already have a page template for each author. If I try to use that template as an author-$name.php template, a blog post is displayed instad of the introductory text. I simply thought this would be the simplest solution for my situation, if only it was possible – to set an already existing page to act as an author archive page.

Admin Menu Editor can not set different Dashboard menus for different user roles. Admin Menu Editor Pro can, but it’s not free.

That’s the thing, the Post Types Order isn’t working at all – there’s no Re-Order menu in any of the post types submenus. I’ll try it out on a clean install of WP, although I have no reason not to believe you that it works. There must be some problem in my install. I’ll post it here if I find out what it is.

Then Post Types Order isn’t working on my installation for some other reason… I can’t make them work for Slides.

By the way, your plugin is awsome, thanks a lot for sharing it with us.

JLeuze, the plugin you recomended (Post Types Order) can be used for sorting only non-hierarchical post types, whereas your post’s Slides are hierarchical. I wasn’t able to get Post Types Order to sort Meteor Slides. Are you sure it can be done?

mgason and what if, for example, I have a hierarchical custom post type, and a non-hierarchical custom post type, and I want both to be sortable? Or, in another example, I’m using an Image slider plugin which adds slides as cpts (i.e. I have no way of controlling if the cpt is hierarchical or not), and want to sort those?

sethmatics thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I can’t get that other plugin work for any other post type except pages.

Actually, I did try to submit a bug ticket, but couldn’t find my way around on trac. That’s why I posted a thread here.

Apparently, this doesn’t necessarily have to be a bug. Only yesterday I tied out Serbian localized installation of WordPress which appeared to not have such issue with Unicode. So perhaps it has something to do with my particular installation, although it exested on all pre-final versions and on both a local server and a remote host.

I’ll try some work arounds for some more time and post here if I get something more on this.
