Since the last Jetpack update, I’ve been receiving similar. Using the debug tool, it states:
Oops! An error has occurred, please try again

Communication error
We were unable to make an XML-RPC request to your website. Please make sure that XML-RPC is turned on and that Jetpack is installed, activated and connected with your WordPress.com account. If the error persists, try disconnecting and connecting Jetpack again.I have no idea what XML-RPC even is, and so I’ve never turned it off. Jetpack *is* installed but since the last update, I constantly have to ‘reconnect’.
I’ve read the instructions from here:https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/9961/2239/easywp-how-to-access-your-wordpress-website-folders-and-files-via-sftp/
I see an ‘xmlrpc.php’ I’m assuming at the root of the installation but have no idea what to do from here – this is all greek to me. I’ve not added any new security plugins and I can’t imagine that the hosting provider is all of a sudden blocking access to it.
What else can I check and do to permanently fix this?

In reply to: Unable to upload images@azaozz I don’t think any of my plugins (using woocommerce for selling) – it worked as expected until updating wp to 5.3. I will look at that plugin you reference. Thanks.

In reply to: Unable to upload imagesOn my top ribbon I don’t have just a ‘Cache’ link that @dazzroberts referenced, only “Clear Cache” which doesn’t give a ‘purge all’ option. I clicked “Clear Cache”, tried to upload directly into the Media Library, still got the error message – the file uploads but gets downscaled.
Even after using the ‘Clear Cache’ additional times, the same behavior persists (where the file uploads, and, the filename gets appended with ‘scaled’ and the resolution is downscaled) regardless of where I upload the file to (media library, products page, etc.)
This will not work for me as I sell Digital prints and I (and customers) expect the file to be in its original size/resolution.
Hi @ryelle –
I figured out already how to change the # of rows/columns – my question is, is there a way to add a secondary block (the current Products by Category is PERFECT for what I need) or even a tertiary block as a continuation? The current “order products by” options don’t allow this to happen.
For example: for best user viewing experience, there are 3 columns by 6 rows. That’s 18 products; I currently have 20 (and will be adding more based on the specific categories) so no matter the ‘order products by’ option chosen, 2 will be left out, unless I change the number of columns, which is not optimal. Even still – since there will eventually be more than 36 products (6 columns/6 rows), I have no way, that I can figure out how, to have all products shown at one time.
My initial thought was to simply add another block based on the same categories – but – no matter what I tried (order products by menu order, Title-alphabetical, Newness, etc.) only resulted in the same 18 being shown.
So – is there a way that each block can be unique, even when multiple products are based on the same categories?
Thanks for a great plugin, and, any insight you can provide on this.
