    i ended up having to do a clean install. here’s what i did:

    1. exported a backup from wordpress
    2. deleted my database
    3. deleted my wordpress installation
    4. created a database with the same name as the old one
    5. reinstalled wordpress
    6. imported my backup

    after that, it all magically worked. i’m guessing something got corrupted in the db, or the upgrade went wrong.
