Oh, I should state that I would like to create custom groups to put club members in. One plugin that I found will enable me to e-mail the built-in groups, but I need to use custom ones.

On the other calendar plugin that was evaluating, I found that it was a problem with that plugin itself that the developer assisted me with. The necessary SQL tables were not created (it was a known bug) so he helped me add them manually. With this “Event Calendar / Scheduler” plugin, this does not seem to be the problem. Looking through the code, it looks like I should just need a table called “wp_events_rec” which I do have and it does appear to have all necessary columns so I guess this is not my issue.

I am still unable to add events to my new calendar with this plugin. Is there a solution for this?

Hmmmm. OK, I followed your instructions explicitly and I pretty much ended up with the same problem that I had previously. This got me thinking that I might have a setting incorrect or different somewhere so I went into options to have a look. IN Options, on the “Gallery” tab, I checked the box that says, “The album will not link to a gallery subpage. The gallery is shown on the same page.” and now when I click on the album thumbnail on my post, it expands all pictures in a vertical row. Is that how yours behaves?

Hmm. adp4m, I tried as you suggested and my album shows up on my post with “15 Photos” next to it but when I click on the album itself, nothing seems to happen. It just takes me to the individual post page that displays the main album picture and thats it.

Not sure whats up with that. I’ve never really used Albums before. Very odd.

I have had this problem with two different calendar plugins that I’ve been evaluating so I’m assuming that the problem is with my site/database and not the plugins themselves. Oddly enough my site works fine aside from these plugins so I’m really confused.

@zacchaeusn7 Man, I know absolutely nothing about programming so I have no idea what it would take to add this sort of functionality but it seems pretty basic to me. I’ve seen several posts from other people asking for this but so far, the only solutions have been “hacks” that I’d rather not attempt.

I just assume that its harder to program than I think it is and thats why it has not ever been added. I really wish it was though! It would improve my site dramatically.

Oh yeah, I’m running WordPress 3.0.1 on a Windows Server 2003/IIS server with MySql version 5.1.

Yes, I believe that is what I/we would like to do. I just want a single pic from a specified gallery to be displayed in my post and when someone clicks on that pic, it would open the pic larger (I think this is called lightbox) with the ability to click through all pics in the gallery in this view.

I have seen several people in the forums looking to do this same thing and a few folks have posted hacks to accomplish it. Honestly, I’m a coding goober so I haven’t been entirely comfortable with trying any of them. I was just hoping, since others have the same request, that it would be added as a feature eventually by the author.

Thanks again. Not sure what happened with the direction to the profile page, but it seems to have stopped. Everyone is brought to the sites home page when they log on now, as they should. I’m sure that something I did somewhere along the line may have fixed it but I’ve changed several things over the course of the day, so there’s no telling.

I’m not much of a PHP guy so changing the code on the pages never occurred to me. I did find a handy plugin that does what i want called ‘Private WP’.

Looks like everything is working perfectly now. I appreciate your assistance.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been messing with the wpDirAuth plugin since your recommendation pointed me to it and have run into several different problems. I finally have them all ironed out now and it seems to be working. Since there doesn’t seem to be much support for this particular plugin online, I’m going to post my issues here in the hopes that some kind soul may happen upon this post and have a pointer or two for me.

My first issue is that when a user logs onto the site using their AD credentials, they are taken to their WordPress Profile page. I have been looking around for a way to have the user delivered to the actual site home page when they logon, but I have so far not been able to find this setting.

Besides getting some sort of AD authentication working on my site, my other goal was to make the entire site private and not visible to anyone until they have successfully logged on. It does not appear that this plugin provides that functionality. I have tried using the ‘Absolute Privacy’ plugin but it appears to have conflicts with the wpDirAuth plugin so I’m stuck.

I was looking for a solution to this same issue and implemented it on my site. Although it looks great in IE8, when I look at the page in FireFox, it displays all thumbnails in a very long vertical column. I don’t know much about the code, so I’m not sure how to address this.

Anyone else had this problem?
