you sure? theres lots of plugins claim it but all the ones ive found havent been updated for nearly a year so I dont want to install them

I think by the time you looked I had changed everything. I now using smart slider instead. I found that even resizing my images to 500px high improved it but still left the images looking not sharp, not ideal as a photographer.

never mind, I was being thick. It was actually the text box and I was building my page outside of it!
