Had the same experience and was also blocked from updates I had paid for and had to file charge back through my credit card company …. this guy is bad news.

Also, despite being able to reinstall the plugin, the .core file dump did continue until we deleted all ewww related folders in /plugins and /wp-content ….

Ok, gotcha. We will be upgrading to CentOS 6 shortly, but looks like that won’t fix the issue. It sounds like manually installing will have the same issue …. so we’ll use older versions ….. hoping older versions won’t cause issues, but we will find out one way or another ??

Awesome. I also attempted to do a clean reinstall EWW on two of three installs we have and the “Automatically Install” button to install pngout wouldn’t work and gave an error of “Pngout was not installed: . Make sure this folder is writable: /home/alpinesc/public_html/wp-content/ewww/”. Even with 777 permission on the folder, we couldn’t complete the installation of PNGOUT. However, I was able to simple copy and paste the EWWW folder from the third install that was still working and that fixed the issue on the other two …. the permissions issue no longer existed.

One of my server admins came of with the following conclusion …. maybe it might help someway:

“I apologize for the delay, but from what I’ve gathered, yes. Those binaries are not the expected ones, and you simply need to replace them with working ones. I imagine that the phrase ‘unexpected binary data’ will already hold some meaning for your dev. Moreover, you can even mention a possible version mismatch, and a definite case of mis-reported error.”

Also, does EWWW want to see 644 on .png file permissions?

Gotcha, thanks! I ended up putting in specific folders in the EWWW settings and that seemed to help things about a bit. Once the majority of the images were accounted for an in database, there doesn’t seem to be any issue with just putting /public_html/ as the folder to recursively scan … think there was just too much going on before the database had the images in the database …

Am seeing lots of extra files with png.tmp or png.tmp.png.tmp added to them. So in addition to an original file like logo.png, there will be logo.png.tmp and logo.png.tmp.png.tmp … any idea why this might be happening? The error associated with this is below. The permissions don’t appear to be different from any other files ….

I don’t see any options for deactivating the stats and dashboard info for the sub sites on the install, there is an option to only show “Admins” … however each website owner is an admin …. we would need only “Super Admins” to see the stats … there are less than a thousand sites, but it is still too much to go into each dashboard, one by one to uncheck the BruteForce stats via the “screen options” section in the top right of the dashboard … It might be a good idea to give this control in the future since it’s not uncommon for clients to be Admins, yet not want technical info or outside links that are confusing in the dashboard …

We used the white label branding plugin to disable the stats on the network …

You are incorrect. Contact requires upgrading to a $40 Support Subscription …. We would like to ask what support services are covered with the Support Subscription as we have no problem paying for extended support, but the only way to communicate in any way, shape or form to further understand what is and is not covered by Premium Support is by first paying for said Premium Support… No guidance is given on dev website and premium support can mean many things to many different people, every dev has different standards in the level of service they provide with Premium Support.

The screenshot I’ve posted too many times now below, shows that there is NO WAY ton contact the author without first paying for extended support.

I believe it is unreasonable and a bad business practice to prevent paying customers from submitting simple questions about products / services / upgrading prior to purchasing them and preventing customers from providing information such as bug reports and feedback.

Feel free to point out where you see a contact form in the screenshot below if I’m overlooking it.

If I was using the free hosted version (non-commercial) of the plugin that is on www.remarpro.com, we’d still be having the same conversation here, because the same issue would exist, an inability to communicate with the dev, fwiw.

As I stated previously, there is no contact form available. “You have no active support subscription yet.” …. Is all we see when we click on support. How does someone like ourselves or even someone who hasn’t purchased anything yet, contact you on your website with questions?
