I finally figured out how to do it. I had to manually upload all the assets, then import only the database via UpDraft Restore feature. There was no way to restore the database manually through phpMyAdmin, or through Plesk’s Import Dump feature, as these methods created errors. But UpDraft Restore would get stuck and just hang there when restoring physical files, and this happened 3 times on two separate servers. I’m just glad it finally worked.

The only things in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory are: .htaccess, index.html, and web.config.

So far, UpDraft+ has not performed at all for me. It keeps getting stuck in the middle of 3 different restoration attempts (on different servers/hosts), it offers to resume restoration and then refuses to resume it, giving another error message, I can’t even restore the database manually because that gives me an error message too. And it looks like there is no restoration log. So I’m stuck. What next?

When I try importing your backup file via phpMyAdmin, I get the following error message:

It’s weird. I think the problem happens once you actually submit payment. When you say, “check server settings,” what do you mean? Which server? Ours, or PayPal’s?

Problem solved.

OK, I upgraded successfully. Thanks for all your advice. There is one small glitch, however. After updating to 3.6, I noticed that there is now some kind of strange link at the very bottom of my site. It says “technology news” and is obviously designed for Google. I have no idea what’s keeping it there, but I need to get rid of it. Any ideas?
