I included “domain” web address in original but it was edited out — > [“email address moderated – these forums do not provide support via email”].
Anyway, the weird part was that the spam popups didn’t occur on desktop – only on phone. And other phones too.
Did some cleanup in root directory – so far so good. Fingers are crossed.
But I remain perplexed as to the source / cause.
