In reply to: How to display post from sub-sites on the root site?Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: second site is blank, but wp-admin worksI definitely had (have) twentyten in my themes directory. assuming everything else went well, is there any reason to think it wouldn’t have seen the theme?
What about if you didn’t pop into Super Admin > Themes to enable it?
Themes must be enabled for your network before they will be available to individual sites.

In reply to: Error creating a website by a registered userSorry, I should have said that renaming it, unless you renamed its extension (e.g. from .php to .bak), wouldn’t work: WordPress would still treat it as an installed plugin.

In reply to: registration just redirects to login, can't registerYou don’t say if you could register before you installed the plugins. The first thing to do is disable both plugins and check whether the fault goes away.
If it does, then enable them one at a time to see which one’s causing the problem.
If it doesn’t, disable any other plugins and see if you can get back to a point where registration works.

In reply to: Multisite Setup Failure. When you backup a MySQL database, e.g. using mysqldump, the resulting file is essentially a text file containing the SQL commands needed to recreate the databases tables and repopulate them with your data.
By carefully editing a copy of that file with a suitable text-only editor (like Notepad) you can make the necessary changes. Keep the original as your backup in case you need it.
Then drop the existing database and restore it from your amended backup file. Restoring the database from a backup is something you need to know how to do anyway.

In reply to: AUTH Code Warning Never Goes AwayI keep adding the suggested code to the wp-config.php file
Why do you keep adding the same thing? Do you mean that each time you look, your changes haven’t been saved? If so, that’s where we need to look next.

In reply to: uploaded image not showing upUploading a photo doesn’t, of itself, make it show up. Uploading is the first step, the next is to insert it in a post. Usually that’s just a case of clicking “Insert in post” once the upload’s complete. Is it possible you’re just missing that step?

In reply to: Error creating a website by a registered userNo such file or directory in /home/legisblg/public_html/wp-content/mu-plugins/signup-language.php
This tells you where it is. Delete it, or rename the file to e.g. signup-language.bak, to uninstall it.

In reply to: Managing subdomains with multisite on 3.0there is a suggestion that you change your site address from https://www.x.com to x.com.
Take that advice before you dig this hole any deeper. This has always been pretty fundamental to WPMU, and it would be asking for trouble to head off in a different direction because too much is built on it.

In reply to: Upload problems on WordPress Mulitsite 3.0Warning: realpath() [function.realpath]: Unable to access /my/site/dir/wp-admin/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files in /my/site/dir/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2058
Something’s wrong with your site setup, as /wp-content is at the same level as /wp-admin; it’s not a subdirectory. That’s probably the root cause, I guess the protection issue symptoms are arising because of attempts to write into /wp-admin.

In reply to: Error creating a website by a registered userYour signup language plugin needs updated to take account of this change. V2.9.2 had mu.php there, v3.0 doesn’t. Check with the authors and see if there’s a compatible version available.
Your first port of call is probably the support site for the plugin. Could it be conflicting with RB INternal Links? https://redlettersstudio.com/wordpress-custom-admin-branding/#comment-1147

In reply to: moving multisite to a new serverIn addition to the site url in wp_options, where else should it be changed?
For most installations, one example is in the URLs of uploaded images.
To make absolutely sure that you don’t miss any, it’s best to dump the database, search out all the references to the superseded domain name, and change as required.
