OMG that is huge!! If any of your people need help cleaning your database feel free to reach out to me. I am sure my programmer and myself can help you with this. At the moment the only way I know of to stop the spam accounts would be to downgrade your plugin.

@pheriche I have created a script that backs up my database every hour and my entire website nightly. So I just restored the plugin from my backup to BEFORE he implemented this new “feature”. I have not updated since. I suggest you contact them and insist they supply you with the version of the plugin before it was damaged/improved. I am currently running Version 2.9.7.6. Alternatively you could pay my programmer a few bucks to clean my code out of my plugin and he could give you our version of it. I would think that somewhere there is a repository of previous versions of WP Plugins. Would be nice. Like a github.

@getshopped.org Too much time has passed. You guys are starting to look very bad and unreliable. How about catering to your existing clients and help us through this nightmare.

I agree with David. Further more, I *paid* for this. You should have sent out an eMail. You *have* my eMail address.

    Bump!!!

Screw that! They need to abandon this venture all together. They need to find a different way. Make their own table and store their session data there or something. I do not want hundreds of temporary users floating around all my sites. Additionally the potential for hours of cleanup needed are there when things do not go quite right for them on their cleanup system.

    Programmers…
PLEASE FIND ANOTHER WAY OF DOING THIS!!! NO TEMPORARY USERS AT ALL!!!

    Thank you very much…

    Greetings!

3 Days ago I did an upgrade to my multisite. last night I discovered my 1000 new user accounts.

After not finding any registrations in my logs I figured it had to be some sort of virus. But I did notice ONE user account that looked google worthy “_wpsc_bot”. And that was what lead me to this thread. But it did cost me hours.

    To the programmer…
See the big picture? Some rhetorical questions for you.. Why did you not comment in the meta data the source of the use account? Would it have killed you to just create a session table and use that instead of something that will actually show up on the front end and potentially affect hundreds of sites?

    An observation…
We are using a multisite system. The plugin is only enabled on ONE site. The user accounts listed the source site in the metadata as a test.site that we had.. Not the actual source site. And not the site the plugin was enabled on. I find this odd and thought I would bring it to your attention.

    My question…
I had created a script that backs up my site every hour and every night. So I was easily able to revert back to the old plugin BEFORE the user account creation was implemented. I am going to assume you have arrived at the obvious conclusion that this, although creative, was a very bad idea. And are going to move towards a session table(s) like other carts. How much longer till it is safe to upgrade and you have taken this fake user stuff out. And yes you will be posting here about it correct? Also, I paid for this plugin, you have my eMail address.. Why did you not send me an eMail to warn me about this???

Yes, I put that code in and it solved the issue.

Very odd. I removed and deleted it. Installed it again to check on something and now it works.
