Yes, you are correct. I am at the point of giving up WordPress as a whole, and just sticking with Visual Studio. I’m getting whipped by a theme from United Themes ThemeForest – the Brooklyn Theme, and I can’t even get the dang contact-us page to load properly. I basically have a “hidden page,” and can’t do anything about it.
WordPress needs to really get off making this garbage so hard, and others are touting simplicity, yet only from a specialized sense.
