If Salsa can’t create the sandbox for testing this, I’d be happy to reach out to my client to see if they would be open to you testing the connection to their account, since they have over 500 groups. (There would be no risk to their data, yes? It would just be confirming that you can pull the full list of groups as options, I’m guessing.)
