In reply to: Where has my CSS gone?Sorry, I should correct myself when I say I can’t preview the other themes. I can preview them but they too do not inherit their CSS properties. There is no style to them either.

In reply to: Server change – website gone?OK, problem solved. Half the issue was that the host was having problems with their Linux server, which meant I couldn’t even get into Dashboard. Eventually, when I could, I changed the permalink structure and hey presto, bob’s ya uncle and fanny’s ya aunt: all working.
Thank you to those who replied.

In reply to: Server change – website gone?Well, it’s now been 40-odd hours and my host tells me it is an incorrect configuration within WordPress. What could that be? What would I need to change in order for it to run on a Linux server that is different to a Windows server?

In reply to: Site REALLY slow – host told me to delete lines from dbWait one mo. Don’t get too carried away with thinking this is something to do with third-party scripts. My problem also happens when trying to log into the Dashboard. As for editing posts – how many times has it timed out when clicking ‘update post’? Too many.
The reason for my original post is because my host tech support reckons the problem could be a line in my database. I’ve researched this elsewhere and have been told the lines they suggest (which don’t exist in my database anyway) would not cause this problem.
It’s encouraging to hear that the site loaded up ok for you, doodlebee, despite that plug-in (which I might remove). FTP-ing is still fast… but then that is outside of the database. I’d be interested to hear from other users how quickly the home page loads up.

In reply to: Site REALLY slow – host told me to delete lines from dbHi doodlebee,
I have Firebug installed but I don’t know it well enough to work out how the database is causing all the errors, if that is what the problem is. If you could provide me with some pointers I would be very grateful. My site is https://www.followtheboat.com.
Thank you for your time.

In reply to: Windows Live Writier WordPress Custom FieldsJust been in contact with the developer of BlogDesk, the link spacetolive offers, and it does support WP 2.7, should anyone be interested. I’m just posting this up because it’s exactly what I’m after and WLW still doesn’t support custom field support, as of end of Jan 2009.
Just implemented it and it works first time. Spot on chaps.
