Thank you. Not to worry, I suspect this is something I could solve with a bit of time, but in the short term it’s not high priority. Thank you for the pointers.
Hi. My apologies for not replying sooner, I’ve been away.
Thank you for the response. I think in this instance I will direct my client to remove instances of ‘the’ in the title and see how that goes. I am not sure it is posible to rank the results by slug. The only options I have are alphabetical or newest/oldest.
Why does the Jetpack app still use XMLRPC? I understand backwards compatibility but shouldn’t it priritise RestAPI if XMLRPC is switched off? By forcing XMLRPC, you are opening up the wordpress installation to vulnerabilities.

In reply to: Removing category base causing problemsHmmm, yes, that makes sense, thanks. I’ll look into this but I think I’ll probably end up leaving /category/ in the slug afterall. Thanks for your time, much appreciated.

In reply to: Removing category base causing problemsHi @gappiah – thanks for getting back to me. You can ignore the podcast part of my post now. I was getting an error with Spotify for my feed but that was an issue at their end, nothing to do with the category issue my end.
However, the original problem persists. If I remove the /category/ part of my podcast archive page, it is treated as a podcast feed, not as an archive page. I should be able to hit https://mysite.com/podcast/, and it serve up my podcast archive page since ‘podcast’ is a category. It doesn’t, it treats it as the XML for my podcast feed instead.
The other problem is that when REMOVING the category section in my permalinks, it ADDS the category /log/ to all my blog posts.

In reply to: What RSS to email services are people using?Hi @mdshak these are all similarly priced. RSS really has got quite expensive! RSS.app charge $100 a month just to access API support.
I have, however, found an alternative. It’s quite involved and I haven’t fully tested it yet but it involves converting the XML feed to JSON, feeding through Pabbly Connect and delivering through Amazon server. This will still require a subscription, but I think it’s still coming in way cheaper than the above-mentioned services.
If it works as intended, I’ll post my workflow in this forum.

In reply to: Removing category base from URL adds category to my blog postsHmmm, I’m now getting page doesn’t exist on my blog posts. And two menu items contain links to category archive pages (FTBmates and podcast) and while one link works, the other doesn’t.

In reply to: Removing category base from URL adds category to my blog postsHi @mdshak That’s because I reverted back to my original setup. I wanted to get my head around why this is happening and then fix it before I went live with the change.
Thank you.

In reply to: Make a post sticky on category archive page?@hdeprada – unfortunately that’s not an option as it’ll require custom coding, and theme creators don’t offer this service for free!
@bcworkz – thanks for this guide. I do think it’s a little outside my comfort zone though.
Since the sticky post will never change (it’s an introduction post to the category archive page), we could forget that it’s sticky and hard-code a reference to the post ID in the page layout.

In reply to: Make a post sticky on category archive page?@hdeprada – hi, thanks for getting back to me. I completely forgot to include the link! I’m using Astra Pro. The link for the category page is:

In reply to: Insert same image on every post, not page@bcworkz – hi again. I have one more question. How can I exclude posting this image on specific category posts?

In reply to: Insert same image on every post, not page@bcworkz – thank you so much for that. I should have spotted the image and content mix-up but it would have taken me a long time to spot the other problem. It is now working, cheers, and I appreciate your time. Have a great weekend!
