    I’m using 1and1.com – they do have an automatic WordPress blog on there, but it limits what I can do. I can’t install themes or anything through it – so I’m trying to do all of this manually to get more control over my WordPress.

    Yes, I have those. What I don’t understand is how I get the WordPress files to my webserver. Step 5 in the 5-min installation. I’ve created a database, I’ve edited the wp-config.php file – I’ve tried to run wp-content/install.php but I get an error message. I’m pretty sure I’ve missed something, probably something to do with FTP because I’ve never used one before. And in case it matters I’m using CyberDuck and doing all of this stuff from a Mac.

    Is there any other option? I’d rather not give out that much information.
