In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?Remember that I edited that domain on the site to test it? The site broke. I put it back, but it was still broken. I cleared the cache — still broken. Then I shut down my browser and restarted — and all was well. So weird. I do think that a ton of the issues we have around domain mapping are cache related. There are caches in the browser, the server, and who knows how many stops in between.
When I look under network admin-> sites, I definitely see both mapping definitions.
Maybe delete the one that isn’t showing and re-enter it?

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I’m set up for sub folders. Just guessing.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?Are you set up as sub domains or sub folders?
Try logging out and back in…Just in case. I can’t remember what but I had an issue with something in the site recently that I thought wasn’t working…But was after I logged back in.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?Hmmm. I know the feeling. I can’t figure out what is wrong. It feels like you are very close. Like it should be working.
On a whim…did you map both www and plain? Setting only one to primary?
Have you opened the site via visit site? Just to make sure it fully created?

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?I tested editing the site settings and more that site is tossing 404 errors. Pretty sure we don’t want to do that. Lol. I haven’t done it on others. It may be a caching issue as I have a cache plugin running. I’ll try to rest more later today.
I have not played with those settings before and I’m curious what they do.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug? This is confusing. Just remember…this area is the very heart of caching nightmare. It should be working. Clear ask caches, log out, log back in…

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug? When I look in Network/Dashboard/Sites, I see no mapping on either the main site or the new site I just entered. That section is blank.
Hm. You won’t see it for the main site but you should see it for site 2. Refresh…maybe?

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?In settings, change the Siteurl and Home to the full name so in my case, would be https://www.somesite1.com.
Did you do this?
I did not. That is interesting. I may try it. Might solve some odd links I occasionally get. Or might break it. Lol

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug? There’s a swypo there. That was supposed to read: it isn’t a mapping thing…

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug? That may not be in the document. And I may be wrong but it is something I learned to do for seo a long time ago. It isn’t a making thing, but an seo cannonical thing.
I admit to doing it without full understanding of why. Grin. I think it consolidates hits and prevents duplicate content.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?Yeah!
Primary just gives you the choice to redirect https://www.somesite1.com to somesite1.com.
I have a client with too many domain names, so I have to redirect several to one site…So not always primary.
Say I want without www to be primary.
I can then add https://www.extraname.com as not primary and extraname.com as not primary. If somesite.com is primary, no matter which one the user types in, they get somesite.comAnd…there is the usual internet window when things may go odd places. Can be up to 24 hours but usually less as the domain propagates.
You did it!

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?I don’t remember if it gives an error message if mapping fails or if it just doesn’t show. If you successfully map, the table shows up on that screen.
You’ll want to map each site twice…once for with www and one without. Pick one of those as primary and one is not. Id number is the same both times.
The biggest issue I see is that the id number doesn’t show up in the sites list in 4 like it did in 3.
In the database, I see the tables for the new site with the id number appended to their prefix.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?I was surprised to learn that plugins that are network activated do not show in the individual sites as plugins. The functionality is there but no control in the plugin menu. I guess this makes sense because by network activating you are removing control from individual site admin.
So if I want everyone to use a plugin, I network activate it. Each admin can do settings for their site but can’t deactivate or delete. To them it is just part of the site.
Domain mapping is invisible in the sites but controlled in network admin. So what you are seeing sounds right.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Using 0.5.4.3 and WordPress 4.0 bug?Yes network activated. But it only shows on network admin. I think you are there. Just need to get it mapped.
