OK, fixed by simply changing the text to …
“Future events to be held in Arusha, Tanzania. This is the definitive Arusha Events List showing details of all future events.
CONTENTS”.

Have just realised what is happening. I have been doing work with WordPress SEO by Yoast and editing pages to improve them. I had added this to my Events Listing page …
“Future events to be held in Arusha, Tanzania. This is the definitive Arusha Events List showing details of all future events.
CONTENTS[events_list scope=”future”]”.
Assumed that CONTENTS would be overwritten. It worked except for the issue I reported above.
I figure I must be using the term CONTENTS incorrectly????

Tried angelo’s shortcode … no change, shortcode visible only. As Marcu suggested, turned off all other plugins … no change.

I am having same issue with latest version of WordPress, DirectoryPress Theme version 7.1.3 & EO Version 2.0.2. Using Google Chrome browser.

Not sure where you are looking to find the error messages mentioned above but I don’t seem to get any so don’t know where to start troubleshooting!
