I have resolved the issue – was being caused by an SMTP plugin updating and changing my settings. If the SMTP is not properly configured, the plugin breaks.
Users can register for my site using the link below (it’s a paid membership). When they are asked to verify their email, they are taken to the Verify Email page on my site, where an error message pops up.
