HI,
I managed to (finally) get a copy of the actual email the customer received. Their version has a subject line “Your DWConsulting order has been received!” and the header “Thank you for your order” which I believe is the default setting for the Processing email. So I will change the Template settings to use that email.
I think the problem is that it is a bit unclear (to me) as to just what gets sent and when. Especially what ‘processing’ means: does that mean the email gets sent before I start processing the order or after I finish processing and the order changes to on hold or completed? I think from the information I now have it is the first – so I would say ‘processing’ really means ‘to be processed’
Thanks anyway!

In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] UK VAT should be 0% for all customersThanks Diego,
I did post a question / suggestion on the WooCommerce forum last night. It would be nice if they had an Override list so that you could have all the (presumed) advantages of Automated Taxes but with a few overridden rates that the WooCommerce update would ignore.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WooCommerce] Automated Taxes overwrites Standard Tax RatesThanks for the reply. I’m not saying the database is wrong, the VAT rate for the UK is certainly 20%. It’s just that the requirements of post Brexit VAT taxation require that VAT not be charged in my situation – at least in the opinion of my accountant.
My main concern is how all the other country’s tax requirements will be affected with the Automated taxes disabled.
It would be nice if there was an ‘override’ rates list in addition to the Standard, Reduced and Zero so that the Automated option could be used for the majority of customers but with some specific rates set by the user rather than the database.

In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] UK VAT should be 0% for all customersI had tried that but it just kept re-appearing….
I have done some more extensive testing now and found that the real culprit seems to be the WooCommerce Automated Taxes. At least if that is enabled then the list of taxes get updated with the VAT for the town/postcode every time I fill in an order. If I disable it I can delete the main GB lien and it seems to stay deleted. Of course I have no idea what I’ve lost by turning that off though!
Thanks for your help and suggestions though.

In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] UK VAT should be 0% for all customersThank you for your explanation.
It would appear that the culprit is Aelia Currency Switcher, at least when that is deactivated I can set VAT to 0%, when it’s active it keeps switching back to 20%. Unfortunately I need Currency Switcher as well ??
I will pass the links for the VAT explanations on to my accountant…

In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] Update EU VAT Rates includes GBWhere do I sign up! I’ll happily pay for the premium version if it solves these stupid VAT problems.
But there is no way I’m doing custom code and CSS on my website. I find WordPress and WooCommerce complicated enough.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] Update EU VAT Rates includes GBHi Diego,
Sorry to keep coming back to this but I can’t get the VAT to work for UK customers at all.
As you point out: “The seller must charge VAT, unless it is a business to business sale and the customer has given them their UK VAT registration number.”
However if the customer chooses the UK as their country the VAT field disappears from the Checkout page so how can they provide a VAT number? Without the VAT number, VAT is always added.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] Update EU VAT Rates includes GBAgain, thank you for taking the time to explain the situation and your standpoint. You have been far more informative than any of the other of the WooCommerce Add-on developers I have tried to contact!
Obviously this is a far more complex subject than you or I am qualified to discuss, I am just trying to make WooCommerce do what my accountant here in The Netherlands has told me is ‘right’. Weather that is ‘right’ according to HMRC is a different matter! The bottom line is that Brexit is a mess and we – the developers and merchants – are the victims.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant] Update EU VAT Rates includes GBThank you for your prompt reply. I understand that currently it is almost impossible to keep everyone happy without some really major changes to the system. Is it possible to have a local copy of that file installed on my website so I can set it up as I need? Or will it be ignored unless I specifically update it?
The Dutch Chamber of Commerce guidelines state that B2B, EU to GB, is always 0%, as long as we both have a VAT number (though I can’t check the GB VAT number automatically anymore so I suppose I will have to turn off the automatic VAT number checks for everyone until there is a solution for that).
They also state that for B2C, VAT should be charged, but only if the total value of orders is more than €80,197 per year. Just how that is supposed to work, I don’t know! If you have not charged VAT but then reach the threshold, do you have to go back to all your customers and ask for VAT? Anyway, luckily that does not apply to me, I never reach the threshold so all my GB orders are always 0%.
Services are not applicable to me so I can’t comment on that.A bit late but I only just saw this comment….
I had the same problem but the fix is simple, just drag the (very thin and faint) grey line dividing the footer area from the body up a bit. This will give the text and fields in the footer more room to print at the bottom of the page so they won’t overflow. You will need to experiment a bit but it does work.
Sorry for the delay, busy with other stuff….
No upgrades done between the plugin working and not working.

update… Disabled PostSMTP and the ‘basic’ PHP $post does work for registering new users. However that will almost certainly break other uses of $post embedded in PHP in my website!
Hi Steph,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did actually try leaving out the ‘From:’ stuff but still no joy ??
