Oops, a quick update – I had installed the Generate Press chile theme Forefront. So I originally added the code to that, but then I thought I’ll try the parent functions.php and that worked! So I now know that the code is accurate, I’ll find out why it is not working in the child theme…

Thanks yes, I worked it out – but still letting you know that your first reply had two snippets of CSS that are identical.
It might help someone else in the future to correct the mistake.

It seems illogical to me that 4.2 Alpha 1 exists before 4.1 has been released.
I can understand the nightly build going to 4.2 Alpha 1 After 4.1 has been released but not before….
Is my thinking flawed ?

I’ve tried a few times now, but I still get 4.2 alpha
if I download the RC1 zip, do I manually replace all the files ?
This does not seem like very friendly behaviour – what is the point of the beta tester plugin if it is not updating the correct version ?

No there is only one news page ( in fact I only have two pages – my static home page and my news page)

But I went back to beta-1 and it has the normal drop down selection, but this has changed in beta-2 (or possibly since!), it is now a free form field which is titled, ‘page title’ – but I updated another occurrence of beta-1 that already had the blog page configured to news and retained the settings, so I can move on – but something odd here !
