Yes – we also have this issue, at times, with this plugin.
This plugin *does* chunk up our custom post types by the Post Date Year & Month, so that helps keep the number of our sitemaps with more than 50,000 pages to a minimum – but we do have a couple sitemaps even with this method that end up having more than 50,000 pages sitemap – and as such, throws errors in Search Console.
It would be great if the plugin could append a “-2” to its standard Year/Month structure once any of those month based sitemaps approach 50,000 records.
