I am using “WordPress Related Posts”

Yep I have exactly the same thing. I have deactivated everything except Related posts.

However, when I copy and paste the link from the thumbnail, I also get an identical error message

I get this message:

“The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Be good to have a fix

I only had 4 plugins installed:

Jetpack
Google Analytics by Yoast
Advanced Excerpt by Delicious Brains
Akismet by Automattic

I turned all off except Jetpack – same result

Yes, ‘featured image’ shows up when creating posts.

Everything on my page is identical to your screenshot except for the Featured Image box

I checked “Screen Options”, and there isn’t a “Featured Image” checkbox there.

I am not using something built into the theme – the theme designers don’t know anything about it ??

Exactly the same thing happened to me today.

Any answers for you?
