Thanks for the response. If I place the links in content-single.php wouldn’t the have to be above or below the posts content? My content is complex product descriptions with text, graphics, images, etc. and I want to do something like this:

    some post content
    next/prev links
    more post content

Can the php and functions work in the body of the posts? Your response is helpful though if I have to go in that direction. Thanks.

To be clear, the big issue is to be able to overlap the div preceding the footer on the page so not only overlap the site background but any image displayed in the preceding content div.

I’d like to use a silhouette of a cityscape as a background to my footer. The footer also includes some text as show in the posted images. The bottom of pages content area contain colored backgrounds or photos. I’d like the cityscape to overlap the photo or colored content area with the photo for example displaying between the buildings.

The problem is that a footer background image cannot be placed outside of the footer div area. So is there a way to get the footer background image or the footer to partially or fully overlap the content area.

Its an old fashioned scrolling site with the footer scrolling on and off the screen as you get to the bottom or scroll to the top.

Sorry. The sites not public yet. I’ve annotated the image to make it more clear:

The footer would normally be just the black bar at the bottom, but I need to include the skyline which then overlaps the content area.

Or is there some other detail that would be helpful?

Sure. Sorry. I have posted a comp here of what I am trying to do:

The city skyline is part of the footer and needs to overlap the background photo of the city which is in the content area of a page.
