That is also true of me, my categories are full, the one that got deleted had many posts within, this is my category that got deleted, why did it get deleted and not the other ones, i do not have any tags that are different to other categories as far as i am aware.

The only other thing which is slightly different is i have one sub category linked to this one, i am including the link below, maybe there is something in the view source code that would help you out.

I have just done a test.

It was the remove unused tags that did the damage, once again it removed the exact same category, the strange thing is that i don’t think i am using tags as a category in WordPress.

The transient options removal and postmeta removal is fine and does not affect the site, it was the tags that did the damage.

I did have a Google +1 button but it’s deactivated and the error is still there hence i thought it part of this plugin, strange that, i guess i’ll have to investigate further.

I’ll check later, what i might do is a backup of the site and then try deleting the tags, that way if it happens again i can come back and tell you for sure and just run the backup to restore the site.

Sounds like it was the post meta option for me then, can’t be the tags.

I should add that i had no problems before the last update, i have not installed any other plugins recently or changed settings on any other plugin, i do have Cloudflare enabled, that was the only recent addition but that was days ago, Cloudflare wouldn’t cause a loss of a category, the issue happened after using WP Optimize today.

I use the remove post revisions, remove auto drafts, remove transient options, remove orphaned post meta, remove unused tags and optimize the database, i don’t have any automatic scheduling switched on.

I do have the WordPress Cron disabled using htaccess but that hasn’t been an issue in the past.

I thought it a transient issue simply because everything worked before that feature was added, it might also be a new revision to the optimize section, i will do a backup before using the plugin in future just in case, i do value the plugin a lot and appreciate your work on it.

The footer also fails validation, i removed it for the moment but will put it back if it can be fixed, unfortunately i cannot fix the above, i have limited knowledge, hopefully you can fix all this as it’s a good theme.

I’d love to know your settings, failed to work on my site and actually slowed me down to snails pace, it also used all my resources.

When i say couldn’t get it to work i mean without modifying any files.

I couldn’t get it to work so deleted the plugin and went back to W3 Total Cache, shame really but it works for me out of the box without issues.

You can close this thread, the issue was plugin related.

Okay i switched the WP mobile detector plugin back on and the errors returned with this message.

The plugin generated 296 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

Thinking about it, not sure if any of this is related to the hanging i am getting when editing a post, i’ll have to test that now.

One of the issues is the mobile detector plugin with timezone, not a serious issue, the other two are related to the Table of Contents Creator plugin i am using, maybe time to look for a new one.
