My suggestion would be to use this:
wppb_update_user_status_on_admin_registration( $NewUser );
instead of this:
update_user_meta( $NewUser, ‘wppb_approval_status’, ‘unapproved’ );
It will automatically put your new users on pending.

WCK settings are only available on the single site, not in the Network Admin. This is why you are not able to see them.

We block everything that comes after ‘@’. So you should be able to block it.
Also, my suggestion would be to use the reCaptcha field as well:

It will help you a lot with spam registrations.

It is a bug from our side. I was able to replicate this issue as well. This issue will be redirected to our development team where they shall be able to find a fix in the next update of Client Portal.
In the meantime, as a temporary fix, please use the Classical WP editor for those pages. From my tests, the issue replicates only when Gutenberg Editor is being used.
