In reply to: My attempt at wordpressFirst major issue I’d suggest doing is choose a better font colour. Light blue on white is going cause eye strain even if they can read the text.
Search button needs more customisation to fit into the theme. All I get is a grey box.
Use a contact form (such as Fast and Secure) to reduce Spam hitting your e-mail address.
The theme has an issue that I’ve come across many times and it’s why I’m doing my own custom theme to address this for my own work. When you click on an image you’re presented with the thumbnail and the full size image, which is both wasteful of resources and pointless.
Floating forward/back navigation is obscured by the image, which is confusing to some people.Plus it’s a duplication of existing navigation at the bottom (which breaks the alignment of your layout).
The theme doesn’t validate with W3C, probably a missing closing tag in the header.
Some interesting photographs to view and thanks for sharing them.

In reply to: How does theme grade look?I find the design too cluttered and it’s information overload. Navigation isn’t that intuitive with multiple ways to navigate from the menu, pagination and from the sidebar.
I’d also agree about the blindingly fast carousel, it steals attention from other parts of the site.
Agreed about the lack of capitalisation of WordPress, as that’ the trademark of the software, whilst wordpress is acceptable it’s not for a theme review site.
Final comment is the theme doesn’t validate with W3C.

That will help explain Custom Menus. They are fairly powerful and useful.

In reply to: change link name for front pageAre you using WordPress 3 menu system? If so head to Appearance Menus and end the menu entry there by using the drop down arrow. Save and it should have changed.

User Opera Dragonfly to detect the class on the element, then set that element to hidden. You can active Dragonfly by right on the element choose inspect element.
Once you know the class, it’s a simple matter of setting the CSS to none. Dragonfly does allow you to edit on the fly.

I’d check your htaccess file hasn’t got some redirects in place. If have one temporarily rename it. This will help identify if there is issues with the file. If the site works then check your access, if it doesn’t then rename the file afterwards.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that, it’ll make my life a lot easier as I’m doing some heavy duty optimisations of CSS/HTML output so any reductions are a bonus for speed in addition to applying OOCSS principles.
Also it’s great to see such a quick response. So once again thanks for creating this plug-in.
