Me again. Found the solution. Editing the single.php turned out to be wrong. But doing the same to wp-content -> themes -> total -> inc -> hooks -> woocommerce.php (plus a few css changes) made it look like a want.

Making progress. Came to think about the domain registrar who has a logo looking like the strange icon. Behold, it’s their logo that shows. So, in some way WP ignores the favicon I installed in it, and instead picks up the registrar’s.

Have used this registrar for 15-20 years. Have never happened to any of my sites before, whether I had “my own” favicons or not. If I didn’t have any, it merely showed some browser generic icon.

And I know the header.php will be overwritten when/if I update the theme. But I’m old school and rarely update anything as long as it works fine. Hence, disabled all update notions.

Typically, I fixed it right after I posted my Q here. If anyone else have this issue:

1. Create the image you want as favicon in 500 x 500px.
2. Go to e.g. https://realfavicongenerator.net/, upload image and set details. Download.
3. Open header.php in your theme folder. Paste the links you got from the favicon generator immediately above the </head> tag. This is important since it will override WP:s own links to this pinky-dotted icons. If you place it elsewhere, the opposite will likely happen: WP will show its pink stuff anyway.
4. Save

Oh, you might want to place the new icons in a separate folder, name it e.g. “my-own-favicons” and upload to e.g. the WP top/base folder, i.e. “www” or “public_html” and edit the links accordingly.

Had spent a couple of hours trying to find a solution.

Five minutes after posting the question above, I changed the All-in-One theme from “Plana” to “Vortex”, and suddenly all calendars published as they should.

Problem solved (knock on wood).

In order to help you, we need details. If you don’t provide them in the first place, then do not act start acting belligerently when you are asked the very questions needed to elicit those details. That’s no way to win friends or gain the help you came here for.

I’m happy to offer details. But as you obviously didn’t bother reading the initial post, you became tiresome.

Edit: BTW, the text on the image you saw as ad replacement is just som silly rambling. Something like “OOOOPS! Google were supposed to serve some ads here as they do on other pages at the blog. Perhaps they didn’t like this particular page. Or are too shy. Enjoy the emptiness”

PS: It could work with a plug that makes all posts in a certain category show in full in archive view…

Yeah, I was fiddling a bit…..

However, I guess I’ve found the answer:

Google obviously gauges each page to be able to serve relevant ads. When they cannot figure out what to serve, they simply don’t serve anything. Instead, they fall back on what they call “backup ad”. The default of this mode is merely a blank page (however, it maintains the original ad width/height). That’s what I saw (if you can “see” something that’s blank…)

When I found that, I also found a way to add an image and other crap as the backup d instead of just the blank page. But as you cannot use html text (not kosher according to Godgle), I made an image with the text you might see now.

So, again, the problem has been solved. The day Google actually think there’s something to relate to, they’ll serve the ads.

This problem has been solved. It had nothingto do with WP:

The domain registrar and web host are different. Hence, the domains DNS are pointing to the web host. For some reason, the registrar hadn’t changed the DNS Security (dnssec) from “signed delegation” to “unsigned delegation” on these two domains.

Thus, some DNS servers refused connection to the sites while others allowed it.

Eventually, the registrar manually changed the DNS settings to “unsigned” and when this had propagated throughout all DNS servers around the world, the sites became accessible for all.

Case closed.

PS: I have now copied the site and moved it to domain https://rapporter-fran-valfarden.se i.e. a domain without local characters.

Anyone trying to enter the site using URL:s https://rapporter-fr?n-v?lf?rden.se (native) and https://xn--rapporter-frn-vlfrden-k2bcr.se as punycode will immedeiatelly be transferred to the above.

The former domain was just registered, as of about noon US Eastern time, 14th November. My ISP:s DNS has already updated the new domain and I can view it in my computer’s browsers. But when using the phone I get the same “the isn’t any domain with that name” as before.

I’ll give it a day or two to propagate throughout the entire net….

However, I have drilled further into the issue. Came up w the brilliant idea of asking friends with Android phones and different phone operators (= different DNS servers) to test.

They came up w the same problem as I have. As long as they used the Andoid native browser, Firefox or Opera Mobile, they couldn’t reach the site.

However, when using Opera Mini, they could (even if it looked like dog’s barf in that browser).

Hence, I’m lead to believe that it’s the browsers (save from Opera Mini then) that simply can’t handle the domain. Weird.

However, I’m right now cloning the site to another, more simple domain, hoping that will solve the problem and that it’s NOT a WP or server issue at all.

Honestly, I’ve encountered odd problems in my days, but this made me lose foothold completely.
