Hi, opening this thread if you would like further information about the group manager notifications not working.

For now I can confirm that:
    – The group is closed.
    – I used the admin e-mail feature only as a workaround for the group manager e-mail issue. “WP Registration Auto approval” feature is disabled in the “User Accounts” settings section on the website, so the workaround helps to let the group manager know that action is required, even though it is not group specific.
    – There is only one group manager set up. Please advise where the group manager is supposed to approve or decline new users?

RegistrationMagic is also enabled on the website.
I have previously experienced compatibility issues between the two plugins.
RegistrationMagic is set to let ProfileGrid handle logins due to this.
I have temporarily disabled RegistrationMagic now, but it does not seem to make a difference. The admin notification about a new registration still comes through, but the group manager notification does not.

Please feel free to let me know if you need any other info.

I think I have figured out what happened.

The e-mails are set up (correctly) under the global settings, but for some reason e-mails were turned off under the individual group settings. This does not seem like the sane default to me, personally. There was also no way to know that I had to change the settings on an entirely different page to inform a group manager that action was required when a new member wants to sign up.

I highly recommend making a mention of the individual group setting (with a link) on the global settings page to make it easier for users of the plugin. This seems to be a UI / documentation issue. Improving either or both can go a long way towards avoiding frustration and misunderstandings. The plugin has a really high learning curve / barrier to entry, even for people who are familiar with WordPress. It must be really tough for newbies.

    Have a great day.

Marking this as resolved for now. Will create a new thread as other issues pop up.

    Hello @carike

Thanks for the details regarding the problem, and the solution you found. Your feedback is highly valuable.

Please allow me to explain that Emails on new user registration available under Global Settings are purposed for admins. ProfileGrid structuring treats each Group as an individual entity, so the options for any given Group work as per the configuration specifically set up for it.

Admins emails trigger when the option “WP Registration Auto approval” is off in Global Settings. And as you have noticed, Group Manager receives these emails only if Group type is closed; you may activate the email to Group manager by referring to the following steps:

    1) Login to the WordPress dashboard and go to the ProfieGrid menu.

    2) All Groups will be listed here. Go to the ‘Group Options’ of a Group card.

    3) Next, select “Email” on the left-hand side menu, and enable the option “Membership Request” under “Group Manager Emails”.

As per our response to the review you provided, activating ProfileGrid extensions “Advanced Group Manager” and “Multiple Group Managers” on your site are required to accept or deny the user membership requests from the front-end. After activating and configuring these extensions, the administrator and Group manager can approve or deny user requests from the Group page on the front-end under the settings tab. For more details, please visit the link: https://profilegrid.co/multi-group-users-and-group-manager/

If you do not want to activate these extensions on the site, the Group manager with administrator access can still approve or deny the user requests from “ProfileGrid >> Requests” in the dashboard.

Your suggestions about how UI and documentation can be more helpful are certainly appreciated and will allow us to focus on making the product even more accessible and intuitive in the future.

We are a very hard-working team and constantly strive to introduce powerful and meaningful features. And we promise to focus on an even better workflow with our upcoming releases.

If you found our responses helpful, we will hope that you will update your review about us on www.remarpro.com.
