In reply to: [Stargazer] Jetpack Contact Form / redirectI resolved this problem by installing a plugin called 42U Jetpack Booster. It is a valuable plugin because it allows website owners, upon submission of the Jetpack contact form, to redirect users to a page of their choice, so now you can say “thank you” or something like that! I’m surprised no other Stargazer users have happened upon this problem. Anyone using Stargazer and Jetpack should see this.
Do you know how to use an FTP program? Do you know how to access your folders via your web host’s dashboard? You’ll need access to the folders to be able to rename the stargazer folder.
Hi,
I have emailed the management team at my host (again) and let them know that there is only ONE log file from that date. And it’s about 4 hours before they said the spike occurred.
So it seems apparent to me that updraftplus was not the culprit as it wasn’t even running when they shut me down.
I’ve had really good luck with my host; in fact, I’m an affiliate for them. But after this fiasco, I don’t think I trust them.
Does the log file I showed you look normal?
Thanks for your help. I appreciate your responsiveness on this forum. So many plugin authors are silent when it comes to support.

In reply to: Customizing Search Results PageNo need for two pages. Put all the content for both conditions on the same template page. Use the same if ( have_posts() ) : conditional as used in the main loop to control which elements are output when there are posts and which to output when there are not.
You know, I’m sure this is what I’m looking for. But what you just said is all Greek to me. I understand the first part (I think). I paste the entire page and paste it again in the same document. One below the other. Right?
But after that I have no idea what you’re saying. Use the same if ( have_posts() ) : conditional — huh? As a php know-nothing, I have no clue what this means. What page do I have to edit to use the same if ( have_posts() ) : conditional? And how do I use the same if ( have_posts() ) : conditional?
I’m sorry. I just don’t know! I’m a teacher myself and I have a few videos on how to make WordPress websites. I explain everything step-by-step figuring people aren’t going to have a clue what I’m talking about most of the time.
And for php, I need step-by-step details. If you’d be willing to provide those step-by-step details for me (assuming I know nothing about php or which files to edit or anything) I would be MOST grateful.

In reply to: Customizing Search Results PageThanks for this but it’s not quite what I’m looking for.
I know how to create the search results page that I want. That is, to delete the search bar and the social media icons from the header. I can simply use the original twenty twelve theme header in search.php and put that file in my child theme and I’m done.
Then, when someone does a search and it comes up as “nothing found,” my page is perfect. No social media icons, no search bar up top, the search bar right there after the “not found” message so the user can do another search . . . it looks perfect!
BUT . . . when someone does a search and finds say, two results that are wrong and wants to do another search, there is no search bar at the top OR the bottom. That’s not good.
So I need two search results pages. I know how to make them both. I just don’t know how to make the site search call one of them when there’s a positive result and the search call the other one when there are no results found.

In reply to: [Relevanssi - A Better Search] ApostrophesDoes this mean that when the next version comes out I can delete that code out of my functions.php file? ??
Thanks again!

In reply to: [Relevanssi - A Better Search] ApostrophesThanks technogizmo, and thanks Mikko. Your code words perfectly. I just added a functions.php file to my child theme with your code and voila! it works. Thank you for your support. I’m considering purchasing the pro version although I’m not 100% sure it’s necessary at this time for my needs. What a great plugin. WordPress’s search is literally useless without it.

In reply to: Twenty Twelve Menu Reverts to Mobile in IE8 – Need EASY FixI also have this question. I have read through the other posts on the forums and there is no clear answer on what to do about this problem. I have also tried the plugin “respond.js” and it has not made a difference on my site. The menu still reverts to the mobile menu in IE8 and earlier. I also am not a coder by profession so the patch that I’ve seen means nothing to me because I have no idea how to implement the patch. This problems seems very strange to me because although I am not a professional website designer, it only makes sense to me that WordPress’s default theme should work on the majority of computers out there. And this one simply does not.
The footer also does not work properly. The footer (for the front page template at least) stacks up all three footer modules on top of one another on the bottom right of the page in IE8 and earlier. So if I use more than one widget, all the content is mashed together in a big blob on the bottom right of the page. I wouldn’t say “big deal” except that this is a problem on one of the most common browsers in use right now. This is really weird and a big mistake by WordPress.
Anyway, is there anyone out there who can answer this question? Can someone provide a clear solution on how to rectify this problem? I like the theme and want to use it for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I spent hours designing a site with it before I realized the extent of this problem. I don’t want to have to start over; I’d rather find a fix and fix it. Normally fixing things like this is as simple as a google search or a support search but in this case it’s proving hard to find a solution that a non-coder like myself can implement.
Help please!

In reply to: [Respond.js] [Plugin: Respond.js] media queries still not workingRespond.js doesn’t do anything to fix the problems with twenty twelve and IE8. My website is https://truthsaves.org/new_site/
I thought it was supposed to fix the theme moving to a mobile menu in older browsers. No change at all! Any help?
