Now I’m having the same problem. If I’m working in Firefox, I have to also log in separately with IE in order to add an image. If I don’t I also get the same “log in” screen.

Strange that I was adding images just fine two days ago … not sure what changed.

Was this issue ever resolved?

I resolved the issue myself … well, kinda.

Since I had just created my blog a few days ago (and was mostly working on a theme design), I just cleared my database and reinstalled WP.

Not very convenient … but it took care of the problem.

There does seem to be some kind of issue (for some people) when they delete parent-categories … and are left with ghost sub-categories that they can’t delete (or re-create using the same names). I’m not the only one who has asked about this in the forums…

Unfortunately, I’ve tried all the steps you recommended (clearing out the FireFox cache, refreshing the page, pulled it up with IE and Opera, and restarting my computer) … but I still have the problem.

And DOGS does not show up as a Category Parent when adding a new category.

When I open the “Dashboard”, I get the following info:

You have 1 post, 5 pages, contained within 6 categories and 0 tags.

But when I click on “6 categories” it links to Manage Categories where it definitely only shows 2 categories. DOGS and those three other unwanted categories are still hidden/unavailable on that page.

I replaced the wp-admin/js/categories.js file (per some other forum posts) but it did not fix the problem either.

Actually, if you search “delete” and “category”, you will find LOTS of other people asking a similar question … but I can’t find where it has ever been resolved (except for that categories.js fix above).

It must have something to do with those double forward-slashes I mentioned in my earlier post. But I have no idea where/how to remove an extra forward-slash???
