Could it be something to do with the encoding DW uses? I’ve had encoding problems before with other editors…

Are you sure .htaccess is enabled and has permissions to set ErrorDocument? Stupid question but are you sure your custom 404 file exists?

IE is fine for me! PHP is server-side so I wouldn’t have thought browser would make too much difference…

There’s more of an advantage to ‘pretty’ permalinks: not just Google can remember them!! Real people can remember how to get to a post!

So many times I’ve found an excellent resource – once… then never again! There are other ways of remembering where things are online (blogs, bookmarks, etc) but I wasn’t home at the time and didn’t want my school’s network admin getting hold of my WP password! Go pretty URLs!!

https://grant.org.uk has an article describing an XHTML compliant way of writing links to new windows (requires basic JavaScript). I think the code was
